Is liner a good idea, i mean; can't it maybe cause problems in time. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

    Popping, backfiring when deccelerating

There was rust. Tank was drained. Will check timing, but as mentioned, bike ran fine before I put her away. Is it possible timing changed? Bike was never touched. Posted via Mobile

    Popping, backfiring when deccelerating

Thanks, the bike ran fine before I put it away 13 years ago. It's not likely timing went off is it? Bike was never touched. Posted via Mobile

    Popping, backfiring when deccelerating

The guy who cleaned my carbs suggests i check that the flow from the petcocks is equal. He said he cleaned the lower screen on each but not the one in the tank. ????? Is something I should do? Posted via Mobile

    Popping, backfiring when deccelerating

Thanks Marty, well i'm not sure about timing. Points were set by the book. it starts easily; idles nicely. It's only popping on one side (right). Wouldn't it be on both sides if timing was off?

    Popping, backfiring when deccelerating

Thanks Guru, The condensors are brand new. I've had the carbs cleaned by a mechanic that assures me it was done well with compressed air, cleaner, wire, etc. I've got stock air boxes. Now what?

Unless the engine has been running a little while the bike jumps and stalls every time i drop it into 1st. Possible reasons?
