    Gauge question

I'm hesitant to tear into my gauges after having bad experiences in the past trying to repair gauges, mostly on my CB750s. The face of my speedometer has started vibrating separate from the remainder on the gauge. My bike is a 75B with a nice set of gauges and I'm a little fearful to tear into...

Fall Photo Challenge - Post Your Pics

My stock 75 is pretty bland compared to the other bikes posted but here it is!! The leaves haven't really changed here yet, I rode around three hours and this is the best I could find.

    Gas leaking from hoses.

Yes, I have the nipples with the hoses which are just routed so any leaking fuel lands on the ground not on your bike. My bike has fittings mounted to hold and route the hoses. I have no fuel leaking from those hoses but oddly from the vent hoses which as 5twins states are higher than the float...

    Gas leaking from hoses.

Thanks. I looked in the service manual and the hoses that the fuel is coming from are the vents. I can't find anything about the cause though!!

    Gas leaking from hoses.

My stock 75 has been dripping a bit of fuel from the two rubber hoses that come down between the carbs and end just about in the middle of the carbs. What's the purpose of these hoses? This only happens when the bike is on the sidestand, it doesn't happen on the centerstand or if the petcocks...

    Good book

I'd be interested to know what you think of it! I may be way off base I think it's a great book but I'm 72 and for me it's a trip down memory lane. The author instructed dispatch riders in ww2 in Canada and I think England. The book about the author is also good but probably of more interest to...

    Good book

Appologies if this is posted in the wrong place or has been posted before. I came across this book through a link on a Royal Enfield forum I follow and ordered it. If you enjoy working on old (74 and earlier) bikes or just have an interest in the early days of biking you will enjoy this book...

    What is your XS worth?

I have a nice stock 75 and it warms my heart every time I read on here about another XS being cut up!! Nearly every time I ride it now someone wants to buy it, I just say "make me an offer I can't refuse" and some have come pretty close.

    Vintage Type Tires

I've always used K70s on my vintage (70s) bikes and liked them. The new ones have a modern rubber compound, just a vintage tread.

    More than confused?

Mine runs fine on regular but I run 91 in all my bikes because it (allegedly) stores better.

    Oil strainer/level question.

Ya, mine only has 2500 since a rebuild and I notice less every time I change it which has been about every 500miles. It had 900 on it when I bought it so I don't know the total history. I once bought a 71 Norton that had supposedly been done over by a "professional Honda mechanic" and then...

    Oil strainer/level question.

Okay, thanks, that's what I was hoping for. So every time the motor starts it has to fill the strainer cavity I guess. Thanks.

    Oil strainer/level question.

The last time I changed my oil I found what seemed to me to be more than a normal amount of metal particles on the strainer but none on the lower magnet on the drain bolt. So I did it all back up and took it for about a 25 mile run today and thought I would have a look at the strainer when I...

    best degreaser

I've always used Yamaha spray on engine cleaner but it's strong and will damage paint etc. Oddly enough it's never damaged the paint on any of my engines though.

    Timing basics

With all these dual point bikes I find the best way is to use a dwell meter and strobe light. Not an expert but just sayin....... Edit: another thing I found out the hard way is to ensure the advance mechanism is clean and working properly, not the case here though.

Okay, I'll trade you my Yamaha 250 Exciter for your Duc. It's the least I can do to help out. A couple of others:
