Ninja EX500 carbs on an XS650?

You can do what troopthrowback did here, I did the same and it's fine. CM400 cable with a bit of fiddling with the throttle housing.

    XS infidelity

'81, you are correct. Do not tempt my with spoke wheels ;) I did start looking and actually did find XT rear wheels, reasonable prices at that... Then I thought about my kids I have to put through college, and decided to close the window/delete bookmarks (mostly when finding a front XS hub was...

    XS infidelity

Thanks, I have to say I am pleasantly surprised, usually cheap bike means many hours rebuilding stuff. Here all I did was change the oil, clean the carb, check electrics, new plug/cap, compression, valve clearances and it fired right up. I have put some miles on it since, including a 120 mile...

    XS infidelity

Picked this up for relatively cheap. It is such a blast to ride! Had some trouble with the stock carb, but that all went away with a new VM36. Completely different bike with this carb. I had been looking for one for quite a bit, I think it complements the XS650 well.

Ninja EX500 carbs on an XS650?

Do you really need that part? It's not like the regular knob is so hard to reach, and besides, once set it won't move a whole lot. I've fiddled with it at red lights and didn't think it was all that bad a location...

Elephants foot valve adjuster comparison Porsche VW Mikes

I think by "heavy" they mean involved. They're a bit concerned about grinding the rocker arm both in terms of thickness and hardening properties. I don't think rocker arm weight is where you gain massive HPs on the SR :) At least if it fails it's with the valve closed :D

Here's what some SR guys think of the elephant foot: http://sr500forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7254&p=49765

Elephants foot valve adjuster comparison Porsche VW Mikes

KEDO in Germany I believe. They're "popular" in Europe for the SR500 which tends to destroy screws if you don't adjust them religiously, and reputedly good quality. I may end up using them, we'll see.

Anyone tried these? No modification to the rocker arm necessary. I've no affiliation, just wondering since I'm going to be doing the valves next, and on the SR had to replace the screws with leftover XS "good" ones.

    Kinda funny: registration

Lost mine three times. Third time I felt a bump when I hadn't seen any. The whole taillight had flown off and got sucked back in between rear tire and fender. Do keep fenders, always. Taillight still works, LEDs rock. It hadn't broken, the nuts simply backed off and it fell. My plate looks...

    street tracker rear fender/seat/tail light

Yes that's the seat. Next one I'll try is the same from Nitroheads for the SR. We'll see how quality differs, although the Motolanna is surprisingly good, and mine has seen some abuse...

    street tracker rear fender/seat/tail light

Sorta like this? Does not retain hinges and lock, but IMO the trade off is worth it. For now it actually is merely held by the front tangs under the tank. This is for SR500, and I think it actually fits the XS650 better on the SR500 you have to shave the rails for a similar fit.

Ninja EX500 carbs on an XS650?

Sorry for posting this late, been real cold here and my garage is not heated. Here are some pics: Let me know if you need a few. I have not tried on CVK carbs but have used them on others should be the same size.

Ninja EX500 carbs on an XS650?

I used those on my BS38s when I still had them, I am not sure they will fit the CVKs (although I have used them on Honda SOHC carbs on the choke) but I don't mind sending you some I have a full box. Will take pictures later today. Yes if you don't stake the ends or loctite them in place the...

Ninja EX500 carbs on an XS650?

Why do you want to remove those screws? Leave them in, no need to separate them. I just dunked mine in pinesol worked well just don't leave them too long. If you need send me a PM I think I have some with allen heads, none of that JIS/phillips crap.

    Pentagram wheels I.D. neded

Late 70's comstars from a Honda. Both front looks like, make that 2 Hondas then. I think they were used on CX500, CBX and CB900 at least.

    Whats your weather right now?

4°F this morning. 10 when I got to work. Dayum. The bike would barely kick. Luckily it's dry so easy start but I had to jump on that kick pedal :) Pinlock is a godsend, all around it was a layer of white ice, but I was able to ride with visor closed the whole way. It's keeping the hands from...
