I just ordered the new version of the Pamco with the electronic advance. Hopefully this fixes the problem. If not, I've got no choice but to go with points myself.

Put more simply, where do I connect the black wire from the alternator? Is it still a ground after the nylon screw mod, or does it now function as a brown wire as depicted in the 1980 diagram above?

I forgot to mention that my motor is a 1979. The frame is a 1970. So it would appear that I have an incorrect regulator/rectifier for my system, right? Thanks a lot for the help, guys!:D

Thanks sonicarb. I'll pull off the side cover and take a picture. I've done some searching on wiring diagrams, but I don't know what will work with my parts collection. Is that a stock regulator/rectifier?

What you're saying makes a lot of sense XSLeo. I was kind of hoping the previous owner threw in an electronic advancer too. My engine does have the mechanical advance device. I need to re-read your post on how to clean/lube this thing properly and set the timing advance. Thanks!

No, I should have been more clear. It's in a box, not installed on the bike. The other one is still installed, as depicted in the first picture.
