    Rechop: The Lanesplitter Project

I got back in the shed and managed to get a little done on the xs. I mounted the coil. Mocked up the horseshoe style electrical compartment.

    Frame issues

That should have been clearanced as mentioned above then at least tack welded, if not fully welded, with the swingarm and bolt in place, if a jig was not available. At this point I don't really see a solution besides cutting it apart again and doing that.

New member and first xs650.... with charging/wiring issues

I'm sorry to say I've been off the forum for a while and completely missed your pm. I hope you have gotten your charging issues under control. When I sold that bike it was charging fine. It has charging issues when I got it and was completely missing some of the alternator parts. I replaced the...

    Wanted - Super Narrow Trees

Villalobos was selling his for $395, and they are very legitimate in my opinion, come with a stainless axle too. I think $550 is steep. I wouldn't pay that. $395 isn't cheap, yet I would pay it if I had the money because I think they are worth it. You pay for quality... I know what its like...

    Wanted - Super Narrow Trees

Wow. Are you guys actually considering buying from this guy?? He just spent PAGES ridiculing someone for buying parts instead of making them, so in other words, if you buy his parts, he thinks you're scum. And btw, assembled or not, that green xs is awesome. I never read the part in the...

    Rechop: The Lanesplitter Project

I made my mid control mounts. Then pulled the frame out of the jig. I finished welding it up and started cleaning up the rest of it.

    Rechop: The Lanesplitter Project

I got the last cross bar coped and tacked in and pulled the motor. It's ready to come out of the jig now, but I decided to build my foot controls while it was still in the jig and level, so that's next on the list.

    Stock rake

With the TC tail, the way it goes on it tilts the engine loop back, creating more rake. I'm not sure where the logic comes from that you need to stretch the front the same as you do the rear, but I would say you need to do what you think looks good. I've seen some bikes with a 6 inch stretch...

    How low can you go?

What are we talking in inches on your frame? I've ran 3.5" clearance from the frame. If you keep your pipes and pegs up higher than that it doesn't cause big problems, because you can still lean... Any lower than that and I'd start to wonder.

    test fitting a new tank...

Similar to what I'm using on my chop. I found that after I cleaned up all the gussets and whatnot under the tank it flowed and looked a lot better. I like it.
