hello again gents! question about big bore kits

so after alot of tinkering I've determined that my engine overhaul on the 71 XS "brass knucks" chopper is flawed, due to a poor quality gasket kit (no need to kick me, I'm already kicking myself). head gasket leaking internally and externally, re-torque ineffective. mating surfaces were fine...

yeah yeah, another wiring issue, but I swear- quick question

one things I've seen guys do is crimp eyelets/connectors OVER wire insulation, so the actual wire isnt touching the connection. looks real pretty but wont work worth a damn lol.

yeah yeah, another wiring issue, but I swear- quick question

and have you checked that the green wire from the pamco plate is wired properly to the coil with a continuity test? that appears to be the signal wire for the firing of the spark...by looking at the schematic anyways

yeah yeah, another wiring issue, but I swear- quick question

I know with my pma it was a straight connection 3 yellow wires to rec/reg and power and ground coming out of rec/reg. mine works fine.

yeah yeah, another wiring issue, but I swear- quick question

never used a pamco but I'm just doing some research here....is it a 3 wire setup you have? red, green and black? if so, ensure you have good continuity between green on the pamco plate and green on the coil....do the same with red (these tests need to be done with the bike powered down, key off...

    Independent cone filters

cafeguy...I guess the best thing to start with would be to learn about your carbs...find out what carbs you have on the bike, get a manual, and yank at least one apart to make notes of all the guts inside...jet sizes, needle size, float height etc... I haven't been here long, but I can say...

Oil leaking on maiden voyage, how screwed am I?

ya Id say if a re-torque doesnt do it, you're replacing the head gasket and checking your mating surfaces for warpage...thats alot of oil. check your plugs maybe and see if they're coated...if that much is getting out I wonder whats getting in, ya know?

    Independent cone filters

lol @ grizld1....don't throw us all in the same basket now. Hilarious stereotype but a rash generalization. Yes, I like stretch hardtails, but I enjoy the challenge and appreciate the learning process of a good tune. The fact that this guy is even asking about jets means he must have some...
