Thanks for the replies. I'm a bit reluctant to remove header & exhaust pipe at this stage. The exhaust/ muffler doesn't look or sound corroded. I know tappets are good. I'm thinking the discolouration maybe due to the excessive fuel/ oil, from a previous leak, along with oil leaking from a head...

If the kit has double-needle roller bearing on both ends, then that's the way to go! Included in the kit should get a new pivot shaft or sleeve, that has the ground surface which is perfect. The brass or phor'-bronze will serve well, sometimes needs an adjustable reamer to remove a small amount...

I make those calipers out to be approx '76- 78 Kawasaki, could be KZ650, kz900 or even Kz1000. They are after '75. Disks look of same make and era. Rear wheel hub could be kZ650.Most bikes went to rear disk around 1978. RegardZ

Thanks for the prompt reply guys. I will investigate that process. I think I've seen it before. I may have to settle for a dark grey flat paint. BTW, I made the accompanying clamps for these covers, zinc plated, but could be flash chrome? RegardZ
