Thanks. I found their catalog and called about their products and prices and they instructed me on how to buy direct from them.

Where can this sprocket be bought and how much does it cost? I have seen the online Megacycle catalog but there are no prices and no apparent way to buy direct from Megacycle.

Measuring cylinders and heads for stock readings

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like a good method. Measuring the valve to piston clearances from the impressed solder (or other material) and then seeing where they are compared to the standard measurement value should let me know which way to go for head and base gasket thickness.

Measuring cylinders and heads for stock readings

I am now realizing my cylinders are stock in length. I had the cylinder head rebuilt a long time ago but I don't think it was milled to a great extent maybe just resurfaced. But I don't know how much cutting that would involve. The change being that it affects valve timing. I'm thinking...

Measuring cylinders and heads for stock readings

Does anyone know how to do measurements and what the values should be on a 1974 TX650A to determine if the cylinders or heads have had any milling done to them. I am thinking the cylinder sleeves would need to be measured but I don't know their stock length. Or what the distance between the...

    Wanted - Side stand for 1974 TX650A

OK, I'll try that if it works. There seem to be plenty of those on Ebay. Thanks.

    Wanted - Side stand for a 1974 TX650A or a 1975 XS650B

    I need a side stand for a 1974 TX650A or a 1975 XS650B. Must match diagram.

    Wanted - Side stand for 1974 TX650A

I need a side stand for a 1974 TX650A. It must be the same as the one in the diagram. One which accepts the rubber stopper. It seems to be the only one which works for my bike. I have one which is part No. 447-27311-06 but it's not sitting flat. I believe I need part No. 341-27311-01-00

Use this link for setting your ignition for initial starting. I hope you have the same kit number. http://www.boyerbransden.com/pdf/KIT00303__BOX00210_.pdf

    Boyer Bransden ignition timing setting

Let me put it this way and you should be able to come to an understanding of the system. Full advance can be set at various RPM's. Using a digital tachometer which works by counting firing off of a spark plug wire I could run the engine at precisely 3000 RPM then move the stator plate so that...

    Boyer Bransden ignition timing setting

Those are instructions for the Micro Digital System. I have the Micro Power Ignition system. It's instructions can be found here http://www.boyerbransden.com/pdf/KIT00303__BOX00210_.pdf I get the weight and horsepower from this link http://www.clink.net/Kevin/specs.htm Wikipedia states...

    Boyer Bransden ignition timing setting

I don't know it all. I'm still ready to accept an answer based on objective evidence. BTW it's 53 BHP@7000RPM and weighs in at 439 pounds.

    Boyer Bransden ignition timing setting

When I used the word emperical I meant that a dynamometer would be used to set ignition timing so that best horsepower at the rear wheel would be achieved for each RPM range. And that's what I would assume the advantage would be of using an electronic ignition using a microprocessor is that the...

    Boyer Bransden ignition timing setting

Thanks for your answer based on personal experience. It provides a value for setting the timing rather than just somewhere in the rev range.

    Boyer Bransden ignition timing setting

Your answer is a contradiction in itself. Either by mechanical means or electronic means full advance should be the same.

    Boyer Bransden ignition timing setting

Your reply doesn't make a lot of sense to me and you use some guess work. I still think the Boyer instructions should provide an RPM at which full advance comes into play for their system and should be based on emperical evidence rather than setting full advance at a "rev range" which is...

    Boyer Bransden ignition timing setting

I've installed a Boyer Bransden Micro Power Ignition on my 1974 TX650A. It was easy to follow the instructions and align the mark on the crank rotor to the unlabelled full advance mark on the stator and then align and set the white dots on the magnetic rotor to the holes on the stator plate...
