Yeah ,
It's all ok till you get stopped. Most State Patrol cops receive special training in recognizing number jobs. Not suggesting a course of action......... just beware !
I have two friends who have entered the Motorcycle Cannonball. One is building a 1913 Sears V-twin. The second guy is doing up a1914 HD . The "race" is acyually billed as an endurance run. The group expects to do 2-3 hundred miles per day. Make no mistake the entrants are real enthusiasts !
I ride several hardtails ( not at one time of course ) from the days when they were all there was. The trick is proper tire and air pressure selection. It doesn't hurt to have a young as yet un-injured back ! Hard tails look cool but at a price.

I got the eternity spam also. I run a message board for the antique Harley crowd. I get an average of ten manually registered membership applications from spammers each day. These jack-offs apparently have nothing better to do with their time. Keep up the great work Travis.

Justin,
I'm headed out the door as soon as I finish this post. I'm taking my crank assembly to Bob Donahue at Donahue Super Sports in Wisconsin Rapids.http://www.donahuesupersports.com/ Bob has been the Yamaha dealer there since 1966. He did performance work for me on my brand new XS1B back...
I have heard several differing takes. Some folks say that powder coating engine parts such as heads, cylinders and cases prevents these components from releasing heat. Has anyone here done any real temperature comparisons on painted vs raw vs powder coated motor surfaces ?
John
Travis,
No motor upgrade ? How about a turbine instead. BTW scroll down far enough to check out this dudes 2 wheeled insanity !

inxs,
Thanks for the link to Selvedge Yard. The Danny Lyons stuff is way bad. In 1967 the Outlaws came to our small town for a weekend of hillclimbs, scrambles and drag races. The town hasn't been the same since !
inxs,
Just curious, why did you not go with porting and a different cam profile ? I am planning a 750/re-phased motor.......... and the inquiring mind needs to know !
John
Cool collection Steve. Judging by the first bike, we must be close to the same age. Travis will know , but it would seem that the Wisconsin membership on XS650.com is at least 5.
