    What I used on the visible wiring on my built was - shoe laces. You can get them in almost any colour and they are dirt cheap.     I would say if the battery is not charging that's an alternator problem. Regulator is only supposed to balance the current out so it don't overcharge.

    I recommend graduate tint of red or amber to be used on that screen - could look a bit cocky, but You don't know until You don't try it on. Real nice clean bike!
