    My 1975 650 B project.

Motor almost completely apart. Only thing not disassembled is the valves (no valve spring compressor) and rocker arms (damn rocker arm covers are stuck and don't want to turn to come off). Found a guy locally that will redo the head and check/cylinders for a descent fee. Afterward, I'm...

    My 1975 650 B project.

Well, if I go by the date on the sticker, it should be a 76 since it says 9/75. BUT, the VIN shows to be a 75. Plus, another confirmation is that the break caliper is in front of the forks. I'm I think that the thought about the fabrication date on the sticker method for determining the year...

Loving the look of that paint on the motor. I'll definitely have to remember that when I get the time and money to completely redo my bike. Right now, I'm just in the "get it running phase."

OK. I had a little talk with the case this evening. The 18 bolts and nuts agreed with me and cooperated. The upper and lower parts od the case were a different story. But, with a little assistance, and some persuasion from my rubber mallet, we finally all got on the same page and it saw...

    My 1975 650 B project.

Thanks for the advise and assistance. I know the motor has been disassembled before but I don't know how far they took it. I wasn't planning to disassemble the crank shaft unless I had to and after hearing about needing a 20 ton press, I think I will just take it to a professional if that is...

    My 1975 650 B project.

I got my first bike from a family. A 1975 XS 650 B. It has been sitting in a storage unit for at least 5 years and wasn't running due to a stuck piston. I tried to free the pistons but ended up having to dismantle the upper part of the motor. After disassembling the upper and freeing the stuck...

Well dang. I started breaking down the lower assembly and so far it has bit me in the butt. I was following some techniques mention on a forum about removing the clutch basket and disaster struck. :yikes: Tools slipped and one of the tabs on the outer basket snapped off. :banghead: Looks like...

Thanks. I have already searched through a couple pages and hit the tech section. Started trouble shooting the issue with my 650 and had to do an upper disassembly to free stuck piston. Now gotta find a machine shop to do some work to head and cylinders. Debating on tearing the lower apart...

New guy here from booming metropolis of Josephine, Texas in Collin County. New to this forum and starting my build. Got myself a '75 650 B that I'm working on but may be a little out of my league. I have never worked on a bike before. Had a friend that was suppose to help with getting the...
