What have you done to your XS today?

Clip-ons have one big flaw I discovered. When you try to park your XS on its side going 20 km/h, it's going to put a dent in your tank.

    midset/mid controls

Yup, my starer is sitting on the shelf with all of it's associated gears and shafts, so E-start is not an option. Right now I'm running my original foot pegs and controls, but one day I might want to modify something to make the rear sets fit. How do you exactly install a hinge there to make it...

    Gas tank clear coat

Well, you're already getting the clear coat from Spraymax, they also sell this random link http://www.repaintsupply.com/spraymax-3680094-wax-grease-remover-p3686.html I mean I'm just being cautious, I prepared everything on my tank like it is recommended, and I have the results - my work looks...

    midset/mid controls

I bought Motobits rear sets for my bike, specifically designed for XS650 use, and what do you know... I should of done some research beforehand :P

    Gas tank clear coat

Probably it's okay. I wouldn't use it though, but that's me. Don't forget to wear latex cloves when cleaning and preparing the surface, just so you wouldn't leave any accidental fingerprints or grease from your skin on the tank. Good luck!

    Gas tank clear coat

Any two component clear coat will do. What matters the most is your surface preparation. Use proper automotive degreaser to clean the surface. Use new white whipes to clean as long as you see no contamination on your wipes. Dont just wipe the crap around on your tank, wipe it off. Mine has hold...

Wiring in a replacement solid state rectifier/regulator (not a nylon screw thread)

Photoshop  Those are really cool! Motogadget offers a similar 3-in-1 setup. Anytime bro, I've gotten a lot of help myself from this forum, so giving something back is my pleasure. Best of luck.

Wiring in a replacement solid state rectifier/regulator (not a nylon screw thread)

Im running a led tail light with only the brake side connected. The PWM will dim the brake light to running light with around like 60 Hz pulses, which will give a kind of ghost effect when you move your eyes over the light. Very much a safety feature in my eyes, your tail light will not melt...

Wiring in a replacement solid state rectifier/regulator (not a nylon screw thread)

Okay, here is my original wiring schematic that I made for my motorcycle. It's built from scratch, so it means no original bike wiring will connect to it, with the exception of the alternator. It is meant for older points ignition XS650 model, and will work with Mikesxs solid state...

Wiring in a replacement solid state rectifier/regulator (not a nylon screw thread)

Stator wiring? You mean rotor wiring? My solid state Electrosport rectifier/regulator has not worked properly since day one. I ended up using a combination. I am using the Electrosport rectifier part, but had to hook up my mechanical voltage regulator also, because my Electrosport voltage...

Replaced valves and tappets, now have valve ticking (video) SOLVED

Hey guys, I want to ask if any of you more experienced engine people have some ideas of what might be wrong with my engine, and why does it tick so god damn loud. Here's the story. I decided to rebuild my engine, after finding out that my engine had low compression in the left cylinder...

Where did this hose come from???

Could it be an old battery exhaust vent tube? On my XS it was in similar diameter, as the hose on your picture.

Need advice, clutch is not engaging

Making a quick update on the issue. I decided to take the brutal way of fixing this problem, which worked well. Gave a good push to the bike, jumped on, switched to 1st, then 2nd, while working the clutch lever and voilà, problem solved, clutch works fine. Sounds scarier than it is.
