Now that Pamco Pete is no longer in business, I need to protect my e-advancer/ignition more than ever. I don't know what I would do if it were to get fried. As I understand it, with a big capacitor and almost zero current draw, the only thing protecting it is the rectifier.

I'd like to thank all you guys for input during the winter about petcocks. I got my old vacuum petcocks replaced with new ones, I can now turn off my fuel and it no longer drips all over my bike. Now......
When I changed the petcocks it was winter, so I was running the cycle in the garage...
I recently completed my 1979 XS650 build, got it running, everything seems fine, but I was smelling gas. I've figured out it looks like both petcocks are leaking, I still need to be sure its both and not just one, but its hard when its below zero temps.
Having said all that, do people here...
I made my XS a kick start only, removed all the old electronics and replaced with nothing but electric ignition and advancer. Made it as a fair weather ride, but now its cold as hell outside and want to run it a bit, keep it healthy, and of course I can't get it to start using the kick method...
I have a Pamco unit I purchased a few years ago, sat in a box in the shelf in my house for a couple of years, so I'm sure the warranty is out.
