    I just use a dermal tool with a diamond wheel it works great but be carful and do a little then check your fit it is real easy to take to much so go slow

    your best bet is to replace the brushes and use electric contact cleaner I used it on my 77 xs650 and it seemed to work fine thanks dave

    I prefer to hand file it is to easy to take off to much with a ring grinder or a dermal just put your ring between 2pc of 2x4 in your bench vise then take a few strokes of the file and keep checking your ring end gap sure it might be time consuming but it is better to do it right the first time...

    if you want a cheap trick for performance improvement try porting and polishing and take about 1-2 thousands off the head to make sure it is nice and flat
