For Sale - Free XS650 stuff in Edmonton

When I bought my project bike it came with all this stuff that I don't need. The maroon body work is for a 78 special and it has a few dents but the tank is clean inside. The yellow tank and side panels are from an unknown year and the tank is rusty inside. The wheel is a 16" from a 78 special...

    Two stroke memories

I use Yamalube in the oil injection system and also mix it 40 to 1 in the fuel for the first 1000 km of engine break in. I only use 94 octane fuel from Petrol Canada. My H1 only has about 450 km since the engine was rebuilt so I'm still running premix as well as oil injection. It will lay down a...

    ugly motorcycles

I won't call my Concourse 1400 beautiful or ugly but it is such an amazing bike. It handles like a much lighter bike in the city and on the highway I've never ridden anything that can eat up the miles like this machine can. And of course there's the power, in spades! I love taking solo camping...

What have you done to your XS today?

Went for a 200 km shakedown run yesterday. The only real problem I encountered is the rear brake squeals like crazy on light application.

    Timing retard/advance/Pamco

You shouldn't have to modify a new part but is it possible you could extend the relief cutouts for the plate's hold down screws so the plate can be turned a little further counterclockwise? A few seconds with a Dremel tool is all it would take.

I got my throttle shaft seals installed along with new needle/seats and bowl gaskets. I soaked the carb parts in vinegar for a couple of hours to loosen up the stubborn spooge and they turned out nice . I also machined a 3 piece rack to go behind the seat from some 3/8" 6061 plate scraps...

Well I took the bike out for a 16 KM shake down run today. The charging and ignition systems work great. I was hoping to get away without putting throttle shaft seals in the carbs but no such luck, they leak when the engine gets warm. I'm going to order the OEM ones tomorrow. John

The replacement oil feed pipe arrived here on Friday and I installed it yesterday. The one that leaked looked like the soldering was done by a rookie but this one looks as good as the original. It fit perfectly and does not leak. I'm very pleased with the customer service at XS650 Direct.

    Nicky Hayden RIP

A man who was that fast on a motorcycle gets taken out by some jackass in a car? Sad news, I loved watching him race whether it as Moto GP or flat track. RIP Nicky

Good news from XS650 Direct. I sent them an email describing the oil leak with a link to the YouTube video. They replied this morning that they are shipping me a warranty replacement pipe, I got the FedEx shipping confirmation a few minutes later. Can't ask for any more than that! John

    Junkyard ignition - TCI replacement

Hey mrrriggs, off topic a bit but I want to say thanks for all the ignition system info you have posted. I used your information to set up a system for my XS project bike using a Toyota distributor pick-up, a GM HEI ignition module and GM waste spark coil. I works great. John
