Finally got to work on her bike again. Got the manifold two weeks ago, put it in and started it up. Ran for a few seconds, blew the carb off and started the pool of gas it had leaked onto the floor on fire. Freaked me out. I pulled the float bowl off and pushed the stopper up a tiny bit...

Well, I feel kinda stupid. I didn't understand the e-advance instructions (or possibly read them entirely) and left the mechanical advance on the bike. It is now properly installed and I will be sending the single carb intake back for exchange with a different one. Then I will just have to wait...

I may have installed the e advance wrong though. I'll let you know tomorrow evening.

Honestly cant remember if I "fiddled" with the carbs before or after the swap as I was grasping at every straw I could to get it running again for her.

Started working on my wife's xs, the story is this, bought it, rode it home, got 3/4 way back, started having electrical problems, limped it into the garage and ordered a pma and pamco kit, put it in and tried running it. Here's where the problems start, my carbs are the mikesxs performance...

She does like it. I think I will put the pma on hold till i figure out the timing and carbs, I read the write up on these xs carbs, what a pain. The bike still has points and the advance seems sticky and doesn't return all the way to the shaft. That might be why it backfired and blew the carb...
