Was not condoning use of knurling, just showing what it was and what it did etc. Never done it and it always sounded a bit shit to me.
Great info, thanks all. I had also been planning on using those stainless valves and you have just saved me $100 and a massive headache!

Hi Brett, welcome to another UK guy. Sounds like a good project you have started there with a bit of a twist on the Commando front.
Like to know how you get on with the 5th gear as have been thinking about doing this myself.
Both E'bay shops for "rmstatorinc" and "zeig2" had the plain bracket for $25 shipped but neither seem to have any listed at the moment. Might be worth keeping an eye on their shops as its a painless way of getting them IMO (got 3 myself from Zieg so can vouch for their service).
Couple of petcocks here. Important dimension is the hole centres on tank.

Hi XS1961. Do you want a good one or just an old one to play about with? Have 3 hanging about and can check condition tomorrow (I know are in bottom box of a 5 foot pile!). What cost you looking at? There's always yuni's but I guess you know that as they're down the road, eh.
Yup, a lot of parts almost double in price by the time they get here to the rainy isles.
If its small I may be able to help but you might have to wait 3 months or so. Sound like you won't be buying much, if anything, anyhow.
Hi Triniriderz.
According to the Boyer website the micro kit needs a different coil but maybe you should check it for yourself to verify what you have.

I guess if the groove was opened as the barrels were machined, before the sleeves were pressed in, the o'rings could have been used. I didn't think of it before now.
Most gasket sets are universal and contain some bits you might not use, its just cheaper to produce them that way (o ring is...
