1975 UK/Euro spec twin disc.. master cylinder help

You may have a point 5 twins , especially as the seals are for an early toyota and if memory serves me well, toyota cars and yamaha xs650 did share pistons and valves from the toyota 2000gt six cylinder.

1975 UK/Euro spec twin disc.. master cylinder help

I suspected that the Raw seal kit was too small in spite of them saying it was for a 75/76. The link you attached of Tonys XS650 is a picture of My Old XS.. I bought it in 1976 and sold it in 2005. In that time i did over 100000 miles and apart from a camchain and ring change at about 50000 then...

    Does anyone know this tank?

It looks to me like an xs650B tank circa 1976 that has been left complete with the rear of another xs650b tank grafted over the end to extend.. The reason I'm guessing this is that the petrol tap is the perfect distance from the front of the tank and if you look closely to the right of the tap...

Contemplating buying an XS 650. Would appreciate some feedback!

Hi vtuck2..firstly welcome to this forem its a wise move if you want to own an xs650.. Your right about the bonnie crank design being the cause of a lot of its vibration, but a the xs has a 4 bearing crank its less of an issue. mine vibrates around 4500 to 5500 rpm so being in the 70 to 85mph...

1 Cylinder hot, other one cold

whip the plug out on the cold cylinder and check for a spark; if Ok then fine if no spark try another plug, one you know is good, eg from the hot cylinder. If you dont get a spark then check the points are opening and closing and that they have power and you have power at the HT coil. Assuming...

    Top end rebuild (inquiry)

Hi ....Slight Cam chain noise (Clicking) when the engine is STONE COLD is Ok, but it should disappear when warm (after a minuite or so) if it doesnt then it needs adjusting. This is how I ran my xs 650b and I got 40000 out of the first cam chain and 50000 out of the second.... 5twins is right...

    Top end rebuild (inquiry)

I bought a new xs650 back in 1976 and ran it on and off for 29yrs and 115000 miles. The top end needed attention after 40000 miles, as burning a lot of oil (a pint every 500 miles) and cam chain worn out. All I did was change the rings and valve guide oil seals, and camchain. The pistons and...

    Carb issues

#I cant for the life of me get the idle to stay. When I start if even after its warm its fine. After I run it its really high # One thing that might be worth checking is that your engine ignition is advancing and retarding as it should. The standard XS650 setup is fine when new , but with time...

    Crankcase vent

It might be that your carbs are flooding when the engine is not running so letting fuel into the oil, and then if you run the engine and get it hot it evaporates out of the breather and settles in the colder pipe.. My xs650b had the same V shaped vent with one side blocked by yamaha and a pipe...
