I saw that. Very interesting. The interviewer had no idea what they were talking about!

    Mailmans XS2 , the rebuild.......again

It's the battery. Murphy is always right. Broken peg, 50 miles away, then the battery dies! Next to check the charging system. Thank you all! Oh, and Mailman, to bring back an old 60's saying, your tank and covers are "cherry"! Pun intended! :D

    Mailmans XS2 , the rebuild.......again

Gonna try a 1 year old boat battery this weekend to rule out the AGM. I actually wish it was the battery, then my fix would be easy, but I guess I should give the electrics a once over any way! Thanks for the info, everyone!

You're shipping me, Marty. I see nothing in the schematics.

    Mailmans XS2 , the rebuild.......again

This battery should be going on 2 years, 3 tops. If I know its gonna sit or be cold, I put a trickle on it. You think there's a tip-over switch in a 96 Virago? Well, I do have one in my shop vac! I'll check the book. I can't check the Virago forum because they blocked me. I didn't swear...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

That is a monster! They say, "Necessity is the Mother of invention!" But who thinks of this stuff? Not Rube Goldberg!

    Mailmans XS2 , the rebuild.......again

Ah, yes! Gel batteries. I know nothing about them. A Gel battery came in my Virago a year and a 1/2 ago. The guy said he just put it in. I'm used to the standard lead acid bats that last maybe 2 years, if babied. OK, so, how long do they last? Do they crash quickly when dying? I'm a...

    Smith's Style Spedo

Hi BowlingSS. I just wanted to mention, in the product description they put (60MPH = 2,240RPM). That makes no sense at all. The 2:1 ratio is correct. It reads slightly faster, exactly like the original. The only time mine was spot on was when I had a 3.50x19 on it. The 3.25x19 and the...

    Smith's Style Spedo

Yes, I bought them. I have about 25K miles on them now! They work fine, except, the indicator needles fell off of both. The speedo needle fell off in less than a year, so Mikes gave me another, np. However, the tach needle fell off after about a year and a 1/2, and they wouldn't replace...

Anyone moulded a seat foam ?

I forgot to mention that when I took my original seat apart, the seat base was rusted badly where it touched the foam. There was no repairing it. That's why I bought the blem from Mikes. The only blem was a bent side mount and the Yamaha across the back was not centered. Some day I'll get to...

Anyone moulded a seat foam ?

Yes, the youtube stuff is interesting and the use of an electric carving knife appears to work well. I bought some foam , 2 types, to attempt to redo the 72 seat because as you mentioned, after 50 years or so, it looked like I was grating cheese on the battery and tool compartment. I tend to...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

"Teenager patience!" I had to have a lot of that with my Dad! When I needed something, we didn't go out and buy it. We would just go downstairs and he would make it. He was a "Tool & Die" engineer for Bendix Aviation in Teterboro, NJ. The place is leveled now. Yep, my kids never had, or so...

    STANDARD issue…. a resurrection begins….

You mention optimizers on your pipes. I used to call them fluffer nutters! Had them on my 305 Honda scrambler in 1970. If I came across a cop on a quiet main street, I would just reach back and turn those washers on! It does make a difference. I also did the 750 kit on my XS2 and I love...

    STANDARD issue…. a resurrection begins….

I'm a little late on this reply, but I've had good luck with sewing the foam on a sewing machine. Sorry, no picts, but adding a strip of fabric or backing on both sides will insure that the thread won't pull through the foam. Did this on my XS2 back in 2015 and after several cleanings in gas...

    Virago

Well, Mac, that's a big project you've got. Good luck with it! Why did I get a Virago? I saw this thing on ebay in the summer of 21. It looked great and I just said, I like it and I want it. So me and my F150 drove 6hrs into Florida. I rode it... I bought it! It's a 96, XV750. It...

Here are a few guitars I've had over the years. My 1st electric was a Danelectro like this one and a Silvertone amp. Got em in 61'. Sold them both in 65 for... used Hagstrom III like this one, 65? and a new Fender Super Reverb amp. 65? I bought the amp at Manny's in NY. I still have...
