    I'm Throwing in the towel...

All of it will be in the hands of a respected member. Thanks again. BTW, I went with a 2019 Triumph Street Twin. Closest thing to my XS. I love it.

    I'm Throwing in the towel...

I wasn't looking to start a garage brawl. I am moving on. I loved my time here and my bike. I have learned a ton and I am sure I have entertained a few along the way. I also know that some cobwebs were cleared during some of my more challenging times. My parts will go to good "homes". And...

    I'm Throwing in the towel...

The crazy thing is that the valve shear occurred as I was pulling out at an intersection. Put it in gear and PING, tinkle tinkle. I was very happy that it didn't occur at speed. This happened once before on the right side with an exhaust valve. OEM. I rebuilt with Mike's SS valves and all...

    I'm Throwing in the towel...

I want advice on how to part her out. I'm done. I have several ignition systems. OEM parts. All switches and relays. Oh and a half an engine that needs a whole new top end. A titled frame. Two great K70's on eighteen inch rims. Hugh's later Pma Cdi with a mosfet. New battery. Oil...

    I'm Throwing in the towel...

Dudes, I dropped both the intake and exhaust valves on the left side Sunday in front of a thousand HD bikers. Got jazzed pretty bad. Got home, loaded up the rack, got her and got her home. Tore her apart in Monday and the following pictures I what I saw.

    Drained battery anyone know why?

Have you tested your Reg/Rec? PMA is good...Hugh's is best, but he's laid up right now, but if your Reg/Rec is bad, you will never charge. Good luck.

I want to reinstall my horn

I must have tucked the wires deep into the harness. Thanks

I want to reinstall my horn

Yes. Now where do I splice the wires from to attach to the horn?

I want to reinstall my horn

In my hot desire to remove all of the unnecessary wiring I cut the horn connectors and now I want them back. I've got pink wires coming from the brown main connected to the pink conglomeration in the jug and coming from the turn signal(which works) and horn switch. I just don't know how to make...

    Engine Oil Seals

Well guys, I joined this thread because I had some oil seepage. It had been driving me nuts. I, in my great xs650 wisdom determined that it was from the cam cover seals and gasket. Wrong, six seals in and an oem gasket and the definitive O ring from partzilla. The whole time it was the right...

Wow, the depth of knowledge here is amazing. Thanks again.

    Engine Oil Seals

Exactly...that's what I was thinking last night. So, the cool thing about this issue is that testing only take a run and a cool down and then you try something else. I leaked today because it rubbed. Tomorrow, I will try a measured maximum seal seat without contact with the bearing race. And...

    Engine Oil Seals

What I did is push the seal into the housing so that it stuck out the back a couple of mm and then I carefully screwed the plate in which kept the seal furthest in while still in the housing. I haven't tried the bike yet, but I am praying that this works. I did polish with scotch brite.

    Engine Oil Seals

I have just installed three cam shaft oil seals and none kept oil from seeping. I cleaned the shaft. I had and old Mike's seal, the thick one. Still leaked. I went to the Yamaha shop near me and got a thirty-year-old one...obviously leaked and then I got the new 5mm OEM genuine Yamaha part...

Bs 34s on an '81 H high Idle

I have grown attached to the carb guide...my mind is filled with thoughts of rapid acceleration. Hey Peanut, do you have a picture of your enhanced throttle spring?

Bs 34s on an '81 H high Idle

All is great. The 45 pilots seem to really do the trick and the throttle spring is a little weak so it wasn't closing the butterflies thoroughly. I have read and studied and learned and experimented to the point that me and these BS34 are now in synch. Will do some further fine tuning, but I...

Bs 34s on an '81 H high Idle

So, I just pulled the carbs and took a look at the butterflies on both sides. I realized that the idle screw controls them...well the one on the left and the synch screw controls the other. Anyway, the butterflies seem to be very symmetrical and close completely when adjust the idle screw. I...
