    PAMCO Timing

Yes it is. Cam chain is fine. Some recommended trimming the PAMCO plate so that it can be turned a 1/2 inch clockwise.

    PAMCO Timing

It seems like there is not a definitive answer on the forum, so I wanted to pull some of the experts. I have a PAMCO on my bike w/ e-advance, battery and PMA. The bike will start and run but, I'm having one issue. When I tested the timing with my timing gun it looks like the timing is just off...

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

Mine is zip tied and robber mounted... you just can't see the rubber in the photo

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

Yes, I am seeing spark. I wanted to test the coil first.

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

Have not done a test yet. It was pretty late when I figured out the issue. I did a rather novice job of just wiring everything back into place to see if the bike would start after popping this little chip back into place. It started, but I didn't run it that long to measure my voltage. Tonight...

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

Went ahead and tested the coil yesterday. See the video below. Coil works fine. Traced the issue back to a blown component in the E-Advancer. Popped what I think is the main chip back into place and the bike started up... see attached

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

I was able to get her home yesterday, but not much time to test what PAMCO Pete outlined above. I did take some photos of the coil and wiring. I also made a quick wiring diagram of how I wired everything up per Pete's website. See attached. Opinions????

    Air leak on carbs 1983

Take a look at what I outlined in red (attached) make sure that that gasket is not loose. Use your finger to see if it is loose. Make sure that you cannot see any light coming through. I agree, timing is probably off. Check out the tech section on this forum

    I finally got her back....

Sorry to jump on your thread Mackels, this is interesting. Hey 5twins would the attached photo (overflow pipe indicated in red) indicate that these are 77 BS38s? I take it this was the only year they put these over flow pipes on the BS38s? Thanks - Vince

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

I'm also wondering if these flat spots I've been trying to fix since the install of my PAMCO might have caused this issue. Maybe I confused these flat spots to not be a carb issue all along and a power shortage somewhere... hmm... anyone want to weigh in?

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

What boggles my mind is why the fuse wouldn't blow? Either way, I'll follow the guidlines from Pete and Skull and report back tomorrow. Thanks Guys!!

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

Interesting, where did you buy your reg/rec from? I've had terrible experiences with ones off eBay. The one currently on my bike is from Hughs... I'm sure once I get the bike back to my garage I'll be able to troubleshoot. If only I had my voltmeter on me last night!

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

Hi Pete, Just PMed you my receipt. The Pamco was purchased about 28 days ago. I will be doing a full write up very soon. Have to get the bike back to my garage considering this was 10:30PM last night and couldn't get a tow at that time. What I can say is that the bike ran perfectly fine (minus...

    Stranded! Coil or Pamco?

As I mentioned in the past, I've been dealing with some flat spot issues. After leaning my needle jet, I took her on a nice ride last night. About 34 miles into my ride, putter putter putter. Bike just dies. Take a run over to autozone, grab some new plugs... no spark. This would lead me to...

G'day mates, Tracker build for ya's

I like the speedflow stuff, where'd you get all that from?

Almost got her tuned juuuuust right

Took the bike out again yesterday for some test rides. The 35 pilot jet in. 1/2 a turn out. 2.25 turns out is worse, bike barely holds idle. With 1/2 turn out the bike still has nasty flat spots out of first gear up to about 4500 RPMs than it takes off like a bat out of hell. Suggestions?

    Charging issues

My money is on the reg/rec. I went with the one Hugh makes from Hugh's hand built. Could possibly be a short somewhere or improper wiring and/or ground issue. Take a look at the fuse that is blowing and follow the wires. Make sure what you hooked up is correct. Are the wires to your starter...

    potential first bike

The first bike is def a 750. I had the chance to see those similar 3 carbs in person the other day, I believe Hitachi. Complete garbage in my opinion. Not a fan at all, but certainly would experiment with a 750 some time in the future. They can all be potential decent bikes. I'm not a fan of...
