My 80 basket case build thread. thing

Cool A-Team lunchbox... Yes, the lower bearing race is a pita to remove. I took a 1/4" bite out of mine with a dremel wheel, then knocked it around with a punch. Not alot of finesse, but it worked.

I like the unit produced by G&L Choppers in Colorado. Well made and not too pricey.

Idles fine, but pops back above that

Brilamb2, this probably won't help you, just add to your frustration... I had a bad TCI box. As soon as I located a replacement from E-Bay, it fired right up and has been running great. Is your wiring harness stock? I made my own harness using a simplified diagram I found here, and it's...

    Wanted - carbs needed

Hi Bob, I have a really nice set of BS34's w/ all new mix screws and jets. I rebuilt and rejetted them for my bobber and then lucked into a set of 38's, which I prefer. Uni foam air filters and carb holders included, how about $125 plus shipping in a flat rate box?

For Sale - beautiful 1987 750 haraly look alike not mine thank god

I just had to e-mail him and point out several items, then included a picture of my XS650 bobber. He might get mad, but as a previous poster pointed out, this is what happens when someone smokes meth!

Idles fine, but pops back above that

I checked timing w/ a light, dead on at idle. I'm getting gas, have checked levels w/ clear tube at drain cocks. It starts easily, idles fine. Petcock is brand new Harley item. I guess next step is to build manometer and check sync.

Idles fine, but pops back above that

Yes, 13.65 v. I talked w/ a local mechanic, he says my timing sounds off. Is it possible to use a degree wheel to check if the cam is timed correctly?

Idles fine, but pops back above that

Well, I got the new pilot jets today, from Jet R Us. Recleaned the carbs, special attention to the three little holes behind the throttle plate, everything is clear. The mix screws have the washer and oring properly installed at three turns out. I set the plastic floats at 21mm from the gasket...

Idles fine, but pops back above that

Just spent the last hour rereading the carb guide, i had my mixture screws out only 2 turns, increased it to 3 turns. gggary, I did do the vacuum leak test with carb cleaner, no change so no intake leaks. I pulled the carbs again and will do a more thorough clean and spray out, special...

Idles fine, but pops back above that

Ok, got back from my weekend of fun and went to work in the shop. Pulled the carbs, changed the pilots back to the stock 42.5's. Reinstalled the carbs with high hopes and it made no difference. It will start and run at idle, but runs rough if I open the throttle at all and does not increase the...

Idles fine, but pops back above that

Littlebill, you are so right. I started wearing bifocals a couple yrs ago and didn't look close enough. My pilots are way too small. I'll put the stock 42.5's back in and go from there. Thank you, my friend....

Idles fine, but pops back above that

I finished the wiring on my project, gassed it up and it fired right up but it won't run higher than an idle. It's a 1980 XS650 w/ BS34's, just gone through. I put one size higher pilots and mains, 25 and 135 respectively. I have Uni foam filters, lightly oiled and a MAC 2-into-1. Any body got...

    Is this worth it?

$300 is low enough, but understand the hassle involved with inspections to get new title, is the motor soft seized or really screwed, are you skilled enough and patient enough to deal with it all... Just my 2 cents, if it trips your trigger, go for it!!!
