Need Confirmation: OK to Mix Used Cam and Rockers?

Hi All, I tried searching but didn't find anything clear and definitive. Is it OK to mix used cam and rockers from different motors as long as they aren't worn/going bad? I ask because I am new to motorcycle engines. Coming from car engines, I am very aware that you never mix cams and lifters...

Bought bike with no title, bill of sale, easiest way?

Thanks Gary. So you did eventually get the MN title with just proof of ownership? (even though they lost it initially)

Bought bike with no title, bill of sale, easiest way?

Does anyone know how it works in Minnesota if I have the most recent Registration (still dated to 1998 or something). I do not have the title. I found on their website says "Original vehicle title (if the title is not available you may use a current vehicle registration card)" Does the current...

Clutch lever no resistance: Is it because there is no oil in the engine?

Thank you for confirming, 5twins! Again, thank you to all!

Clutch lever no resistance: Is it because there is no oil in the engine?

Thank you everyone. I was indeed missing the middle ball bearing. I have a parts motor in the basement. I grabbed the ball bearing next to the clutch actuator thingy and put it in my running bike in between the two push rods. I bolted it together and haazaaa! I assume the ball bearing next to...

Clutch lever no resistance: Is it because there is no oil in the engine?

thank you for this. I did look in and assume that I was looking at the ball inside the worm. I'll check it out.

Clutch lever no resistance: Is it because there is no oil in the engine?

gggGary: Yes, I've got the push rod in correctly. I've read through the many very good posts on replacing the push rod seal and figured that my procedure would go off without a hitch. So when it all came back together but still empty of oil I thought that this could be the culprit. Alas, the...

Clutch lever no resistance: Is it because there is no oil in the engine?

My marbles! Got it. thank you both. I'm glad I didn't put oil in it. I need to find a magnet small enough to fit into the hole, the one I picked up from Advanced Auto is too big in diameter. So I should check: -my marbles -worm gear/ramp thingy - anything else? Especially anything else...

Clutch lever no resistance: Is it because there is no oil in the engine?

Hi All, The bike is new to me and I've been working out each issue one by one (first the carbs) and now the leaky push rod seal. I've successfully driven the bike up and down my street a few times in order to do my testing and fixing. In the process I've taken the left side cover off multiple...

Replace Throttle Shaft Seals. Can See Light in Butterfly Valves

5twins. Nice idea with the clamp. I don't have a pipe clamp but think I can use my large welding clamp to do the same. thank you all. I'll have it back together just in time for some... snow...

Replace Throttle Shaft Seals. Can See Light in Butterfly Valves

thanks. This makes me feel better. I don't remember how the gap looked when the bike is running properly. How big is this gap, a couple millimeters? So the butterfly valve is never truly closed when set up correctly, right? xjwmx Yes, I had then tight enough so that they wouldn't fall out of...

Replace Throttle Shaft Seals. Can See Light in Butterfly Valves

I can't believe I forgot to write which carb model! These are bs34's I am curious what will happen on the other side but didn't want to finish up the first carb before I was sure I did it correctly.

Replace Throttle Shaft Seals. Can See Light in Butterfly Valves

I replaced my throttle shaft seals (following the ideas found in the comments found in this long thread). I used a small dremmel HHS cutter to remove the back of the threads on the two screws and then used a Philips head screwdriver. These screws came out flawlessly. I'm concerned that when I...

    Rebuilding a Tupperware 1979-1980 3G0. Wiring Question

I bought the bike in pieces which were scattered within a bin. Thanks! Do you mean to replace just the fuse board or the whole harness (which would have a modern board)? Are these the same ones as found on Mikesxs, xs650shop, etc? I've wanted to build (or significantly alter an existing...

    Rebuilding a Tupperware 1979-1980 3G0. Wiring Question

I'm putting together this bike that I picked up completely disassembled. I have two questions. First, am I routing the wiring harness correctly over the left side of the frame? I haven't got everything laid out and connected but the harness seems a bit short doing it this way... Second...

Front axle wheel bearings. Does brand matter?

thanks everyone. Another issue: This picture shows my front wheel. I am measuring the bearing diameter for this wheel as 42mm (17x42x13 to be specific). But above 5twin says it should be 47 (vis-a-vis the 6303-2RS). Do I have the wrong front wheel?
