1973 TX650 clips for side cover scripts or plaque logos

I found #10 zinc plated spring clips at a building supply for 15 cents each. A day of acrylate should ensure their continued retention. Thanks for your help! Ben

1973 TX650 clips for side cover scripts or plaque logos

Thanks Fred, I think I will go with the original style fasteners, but may utilize something such as a dab of epoxy to supplement if I feel that the fastener might fail. My concern is that I or some future younger custodian have an opportunity to dismantle the attached pieces should they need to.

1973 TX650 clips for side cover scripts or plaque logos

Hello to all! Trying to complete a restoration started by a PO. Can someone please take a photo of the inside of their side cover and post it so that I may see what the clips look like? There are none apparent in the unlabeled and mixed parts bags I received. Thanks!!!

1973 TX Gas cap and latch Circlip size?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. Walmart says they have 2mm and 1.5mm clips somewhere, I will see if I can find them. I know that ligature wire would work, but this is a nice build with fresh paint, and I'd like to show it, hence the need for the real part or a close facsimile.

    73 Tx650 gas cap assembly

Hello and thanks for any help regarding reassembly of these pieces that I received from the PO. What am I missing to latch the cap to the locking latch assembly? Is there a latch piece? Photos of installed cap gratefully accepted, as the parts fiche for the 73 is a) for a different style cap b)...

Wanted - 1973 parts parts please

Thanks again to you all for your thoughtful and welcoming responses! My sense generally about tank liners is that the material, no matter how catalized, is plenty rugged. The efficacy of the liner is limited by host surface preparation and patience and attention to application for an even and...

Wanted - 1973 parts parts please

One other ambiguous thought in my slightly crusty noggin this morning. Why are there separate drain plugs for engine and trans oil, according to the owners manual(thanks ToomanyXS1Bs)? Both appear to use a common filler. Is there some partial partition in the sump? Thanks again!

Wanted - 1973 parts parts please

Thanks to you three for your thoughtful replies! Yes, the rear seam of the tank has been brazed, and the inside of the tank has been media blasted to some degree to remove a non adherent coating that was done at some point by the PO, who started to rehab the bike, and then tired of the project...
