Original stock 78e tail light which is exceptionally nice and front turn signals. Tail light includes the wiring pigtail. Turn signals include the chrome mounts & grommets. These lights are not scratched up, corroded, rusty, or dirty inside. Great, if you would like to upgrade your bike. I also...
Hello all. Today is still progress regarding my long time 78e electrical issues. I have disconnected an ugly rear brake switch. Other than that the electrical is back to completely stock. This is a 10k mileage bike. Today I resurfaced one of the brushes with a fine stone lap. That brush was...
All these components seen are compatible with 78 and 79 BS38 carbureators. All the jets and needles and seats etc are STOCK mikuni with airbox. These all came with my previous 78e which I rejetted and such for pods and exhaust. The linkage components and such are very good too. Floats are good...
Being a regular XS650 site reader there is a subject which periodically brings up a question concerning home mechanic technique. Often torque values on components are addressed by specific torque values from service manuals in this forum. Torque wrenches of a variety of design are at times...
Hey everybody, These "Standard model" items are doing nobody any good stored on a shelf. Hoping to find bikes for these : First, the Tail Light is Very Nice ! (Sold) Next, If you want nice Stock Shocks (sold) AIR BOX halves with the original hoses & rubber fittings. Not too bad. Usable as is...
Hello.. So while poking around in the infamous cramped headlight bucket, hoping to spot an obvious "fault" and comparing two left handlebar switches to each other for condition, I've come up with a question. How important is it for that left side switch to contact, apparently grounding to the...
Would appreciate a set of seat bumpers for this 75 seat shown. Doesn't have to be 75 stuff, just usable. 4 appear to be the same, 1 is taller and smaller. I'd gladly send a Postal service money order. -RT
Pretty nice looking gauge cluster came to me free. No bulbs, I took the good ones. Tach looks very nice, speedo just ok. Wires are not cut, snipped, or molested. So if you need 75 gauge repairs, this is for you.. you will pay only postage.
Very nice matched set. Not damaged at all. They reach out about as wide as any of this style. They mount very rigid. Adjustable pivots. $20 plus postage. -RT
Can somebody part with a batttery box top left mount for my 78e ? I've been without but am searching. attached pic shows exactly what I am missing. 97055 Oregon. I'd gladly mail a check for one. Thx, RT
I was fortunate to spot this hanging in the rafters of a local private motorcycle repair shop. Owner was a Yamaha dealer in the days long ago. Cost me $100 to get him to get it down for me. He said it was an unmounted original XS yamaha accessory ! I like how it deflects a few Bees and gives a...
Mikuni BS38's ad pulled by me. As I am unsure of application and condition. Unable to sell these at this time. I intend to clean and repair and re list these carbs in the future after I hear them work. So, any advice on "boiling" out these bowls would be great ! Thx, RT
Hi , So while doing some winter maintenence I've accidentally modified my 78 standard front brake. Possibly. See while digging in a parts box at a local salvage biz, I believed I found a great rotor and caliper components ! Upon installing my new fine rotor I discovered it was thinner than my...
This set in not for 78. Older and stronger metal but what it fits is a guess to me .. Who wants these ? I would appreciate a 78 era set ? Im West Coast btw
Question, After replacing my stock shocks on my 78e standard with chrome shocks off a Special, Is there a chrome chain guard that will fit ? Im hoping a Special guard will. Anybody have a nice one they will part with for good cause of course . Thx, RT
