    Idles 1 cyl, clutch-in RMP+ 2 cyl

Hey gents, ty for the replies, appreciated! Dug in last night - it was as simple as an almost dead plug. I’ve never seen that behavior before. Was in disbelief it failed at 5k Kms but stranger things have happened I guess. Just to be “sure” - tested my ignition system from end to end, all is...

    Idles 1 cyl, clutch-in RMP+ 2 cyl

Hey guys, strange one for ya. Took the old girl for a run today, ran flawless to the middle of nowhere. Grabbed coffee and let the bike sit 15mins. Kicked her over, started but really rough. Decided to get home ASAP. As I take off I can hear and clearly feel the right cylinder is dead - cant gas...

    BS34 Diaphragm Drop Rate

Ty for the reply XJ, the faster fall of the 2 are the carbs with original diaphragms. Though I can’t spot holes, they have a few cracks in the thick lip running arround the top which could account for the drop time. Both units are running new enrichner seals so it must be the diaphragms...

    BS34 Diaphragm Drop Rate

Heya folks. I’m curious is there’s any recomended/baseline for plunger drops while looking at diaphragms. Paul linked a video for Chito’s post earlier showing the slide drop rate in order to determine if new diaphragms are needed. Is there a good “range” to be in for the drop? What’s a really...

‘83 bobber straight pipe carb question

Same boat as you Redman - 137.5, 45, spot on timing, Oldskool rebuild & same pipes. Here it was thought I was crazy lol. 34s w/ enrichner open & kick - if she catches I’m good and it’ll warm but I have to kill the choke almost immediately or it dies. If it don’t start first kick, then it’s 4-5...

Doing install; Hugh's Handbuilt CDI complete kit

Does or has anyone done a side analysis on the new MOSFET reg included in Hugh’s recent system? Just curious if anyone has researched that unit’s dissipation capabilities and potential lifespan. I admit total ignorance aside from how it looks lol. Before we jump the gun on returning to stock...

Doing install; Hugh's Handbuilt CDI complete kit

Agree with Hooser, Hugh’s a stand up guy and will work with ya. If you’re running the old reg then yes, highly suspect. Did you buy it awhile ago or from another person? The new reg has worked great for me, been quite weary of a failure but getting a consistent 14.2 at RMP without issue. 3k KMs...

What have you done to your XS today?

Fixed front brake-line this morning. Was riding backroads last weekend, tapped front brake at a stop sign - bolt which holds the caliper retainer bar to the springer managed to vibrate free...SNAP goes the line as the caliper grabs the rotor. That was torqued, red locktite and a...

(Solved)Need help wiring turn signals w/ Motogadget M unit

Ledom, best suggestion I have for ya is to scrape the forums for anyone who may have posted an MUnit and stock control setup. I seem to potentially recall finding 1 in here “somewhere” but it takes a lot of keyword swapping and reading. I’m curious though, you’ve dropped the coin on an...

    Paint is Done...Almost

Another vote for black side panels. A gloss black on the engine bottom end would look good in the combo imo.

    Fitting head pipes from Mike's.

Pete, if you talk to Mike’s again, tell them 2 customers in the last 2 weeks - 1 in the US and 1 in Canada - same pipes. On my setup the left side kicks out and away, right side runs nicely in parallel to the frame. No ones really picks up on it with mine, the rear brake pivot hides the end of...

    Performance carbs

Hey Ryan, when my build started I was almost in the same boat of sorts - looking for the magic carb bullet - Paid the rebuilder, got a shiny piece of jerwelry to bolt on. In the end... should have just saved the money - I've pulled them on and off & had to tweak/tune so many times now, it can be...

    new yamaha models

Fairly certain the frame/rear end of that bike is a duplicate to the FZ09. It's the slap on parts that change it up along with motor. I have an FZ, love it to death. Longest stint was 12.5hrs saddle time, my focus capability gave out before my body lol. Pretty sure something can be done to drop...

What have you done to your XS today?

Thanks Paul, the rest is as clean and pristine but it was a damn long road to get there. What couldn't be polished / painted went to the chromer. I've now replaced probably close to 90% of the fasteners overall.

What have you done to your XS today?

Popped my carb cherry....right out of the right intake. Never did put the butterfly plate back on the top...big mistake. Right carb Shifted enough to pop the brass T almost out and tear the o-ring. Gas everywhere... and probably one of the hottest days this month to push it home lol. Live and...

Spark Plug Colour - Spark Plug Color

Watch those tapets from Mike's closely. The last set I had in my bike beat themselves down to nothing with spins arround the block and garage tuning. Perhaps I've got the latest cheap batch outta China, but worth keeping a close ear on
