    Morris magneto

Been running the mag since last June -- unbelievably awesome. I meant to do an install thread but never got around to it, because suddenly I could start and ride my chopper all the time without a single headache... Imagine that. Morris Mags are the secret to life - best thing I ever did for one...

We can all agree that Bacharach is magnificent. We can always do that.

    STARTER DELETE PROBLEMS... HELLLLLLP!

Regarding the "Why?" I'll just quote one of my favorite Japanese post modern performance artists: "Something cool is its own justification." ...with respect to the subjectivity of what's "cool". 'Cause you guys know I'm over here thinking "why in the...

    STARTER DELETE PROBLEMS... HELLLLLLP!

How do you do it, littlebill? I'm in the boondocks with no garage for the next few weeks, but I converted to kick only right before I left my city and I'm itching to get rid of that hunk of metal starter. I have the bike and hugh's starter delete kit with me, and tools. But I don't think the...

    Morris magneto

The Morris Magneto is ordered! The plan right now: 1. Wait anxiously for the mag to arrive 2. Continue searching my current PMA system for whatever parasite drain is sucking my voltage at idle and capping my charge at around 13.2 in higher revs (turns out not to be the stator Hugh sent me, so...

So you're saying put the mag where my mouth is, ay gggGary? I like it. Yous guys got my respect — that's why I'm here. And I'm not that young anyways. This from Morris: Mickey, Yamaha made the cams the same on the 'advance' end, with threads and a locating pin hole, even though I think it was...

    Morris magneto

Ok, cool. But what I said was that I was considering. (If we are going to nitpick) ;) I think our retired gent is just offended that I would dare consider keeping that "dreaded Hugh's PMA" :devilish: before the great and venerable Pamco ignition :yikes: (And, in general, put-off by any human...

    Morris magneto

Thank for the thoughts, Fred. I totally get that we're talking about two different systems, and I'm entirely aware of what charging systems and ignitions are for. I didn't say I didn't want a magneto, a certain retired gentleman did. I asked him to clarify why (or insinuated he had not justified...

    Morris magneto

Noted. However, I'm a crazy person and still curious about the magnetos, and their viability in my particular situation (pma, pamco-swapped '81 CDI model xs). Tell my *why* I don't want a magneto. Just curious. ...and i guess not completely resonating with this idea that the stock alternator is...

    Morris magneto

Morris makes a direct bolt on. Looking at it right now on lowbrow site. I'm considering. I'm hitting massive bumps using hugh's pma and pamco. When the pma works, the pamco burns out... when the pamco fires, i'm back to trouble shooting the pma -- it's making me f*cking dizzy over here. At least...

    Coil replacement

Pete - can you suggest the best coil for use with your standard ignition + advance rod with hughs PMA system? Is it 17-6903 only, or will 17-68.. work also for the "high output"? And please include your recommended spark plug gap size for use with 17-68.. (I know you stated earlier that for...

    Coil replacement

Funny thing is i never saw a surge when i was testing, so I thought I was safe. Only thing that caught my attention after the swaps was the the idle speed ran up really high after the oil temp reached 200+ That's when i started to suspect plug gaps, etc... but before i could really try...

    Coil replacement

thanks figure8. i figured as much but wasn't entirely sure given the solenoid and button - not much of an electrical genius, clearly i just ordered the ultimate high output coil 17-6903, the 5mm wires and iridium plugs which i'll open the gap on... so we'll see after the rewiring, i'm hoping it...

    Coil replacement

Aha! So if i have a 6-*8*-0-3 from Mike's should i leave the plug gap alone, or do suggest i just get the 6-*9*-0-3 and increase to the .035 range? I'm having spark failures right now after installing the basic pamco and hugh's pma. '81 Hspecial (cdi swap) Ran great for a week, then all the...
