    Yamaha's next concept bike

Ahhh, now I see: the ancient art of "Desk Abuse". If they were from upriver from the valley where I live, they'd all be cousins, too. Now, y'all may wonder why I'm "wasting" time playing with this thread, but the alternative is to go out and (once more) attack the rampaging...

    Yamaha's next concept bike

*Laughing* Wait just a minute! How old is that Enfield? She better be 18, or I see some jail time in your future if you don't (ahem) "dismount" right this instant! BTW, I'd *much* rather have that Enfield than the "concept bike"----oh, I know the Enfield is a modern version, but at least it...

Ah, what could have been... The TX750 near-miss

Hi Guys, TX750.....yeah. I've never ridden or worked on one, so it is totally presumptive of me to comment, but there's something......something..... It seems to escape description, but there is some esthetic factor present in the various 650's that the 750 lacks totally. The SR500...

    Yamaha's next concept bike

Hi Guys, Hmmm....a board for a seat/fender combo. So the front tire sprays water and road crap all over the engine, and the rear tire sprays all over the brains--oops, I mean (ahem) "Bottom" of the rider, but it will look so cool profiling in front of the hamburger hangout.....not. I sure...

HELP!!! I broke it!!! Won't start. Warning LONG!!!

Hi Guys, Nice, huh? And note all the "clutter"--especially on the work bench behind the XS. Nice frame for another BSA unit single, unless my old eyes betray me....(and they don't....I've built one or two of those myself). Beautiful job, Gordon. But what's that "Confederate Gray" on the...

    77 sr 500 rear shocks on 77 xs650D

Hi Guys, I've run my XS "D" as a solo and sidecar bike, and I have rear shocks from a 1970 Triumph T100c and they seem just fine. One of the nice things about an XS is that they are so forgiving.....fyi.

HELP!!! I broke it!!! Won't start. Warning LONG!!!

Hi Guys, I was watching from the shadows---the real story here is that the poor XS is ready and willing to go, but the way things are, it is allergic to rain. Yep. Turns the poor thing into a Jawa, and it rolls slowly off, muttering in some Eastern European accent and trying to figure out how...

HELP!!! I broke it!!! Won't start. Warning LONG!!!

(Short hi-jack...) Hi Fred-- True enough about the number of parts, but compare it to that XS11, or (Good Lord!!) a new Triumph....it has a *radiator*!! Now, is that rude, or what?? Anyway, I like the XS twin, so that makes it a neat and easy engine....heehee. And now back to your...

HELP!!! I broke it!!! Won't start. Warning LONG!!!

Well, Gordon, Welcome to the monkey house! You already got another XS!! After you have used it to back-check the troubles of XS#1, then, naturally, you'll have to find another one so you can get the second one running.....and the contagion spreads..... Did you by any chance try tapping the...

HELP!!! I broke it!!! Won't start. Warning LONG!!!

Deep breath, Gordon, Lessee---it sounds like you are being entirely too logical.....so I'm just gonna throw a couple of obvious ideas out there, and you can chuckle and make "Chick" jokes. OK? Once. Then all is fair..... So. First, have you stuck a meter on the battery? I know the electric leg...

    New member here

Hi Nghieplk, I just wanted to add "Welcome" from the Pacific Northwest. You really do have a very nice bike....my bikes are a bit tattered by comparison, but I love them anyway. Do you have much difficulty getting parts? Just curious---we seem to have a good supply of them available, so...

New around here and have a question.

Hi Guys, Umm.....am I the only one to think, "Get 'em both!" ? Restore the early one--they are fun (even my '77) and people still sometimes ask, "Is that a Triumph"? Then chop up the newer one and no great loss. Right now, out in my shed, sits my '77 "D" and an 81 Special. The 81 may...

    Just dropped in....

Hi Fred, Oh, if I could find a /2---I love those old "real" Beemers! But I've talked with a bunch of people, and heard everything from "basically rebuild the frame" to the attitude of Bob of "The Wark Shop" (sidecar guy) and he says that if the lean-out and toe-in is correct it doesn't need a...

    Just dropped in....

Hi Guys, gggGary, it's so nice to be back! (Happy!) Fred, my rig is/was a Spirit of America chair originally mounted to a Harley (!) and then on my '77 "D". It's confusing because I have a '75 gas-tank on the '77. On top of that, given the blow-up of the original engine, I currently have...

    Some 37's

Hi Guys, When my father met my mother, he was driving a 1937 Ford Phaeton, canary yellow. He used to drive it around Kingston, PA with my mother next to him and a quart of moonshine to sip as they drove around. When my Grandmother found out about it, very proper Lace-Curtain Irish that she...

    Just dropped in....

Hi Guys, Gee, thanks! Feels a bit like coming home after a long ride: sit on the bike with both feet on the ground, lean back against the luggage, shut off the engine, and just close your eyes, breathe deeply and relax.....I like that! What damage did the rod do? Hoo-boy! I must say, when...

Thanks Guys! I'm trying to get back into things......I'll be around more often! I've missed this place!

    Just dropped in....

Hi Guys, Gee, it's only been three years.....where does it go? About the time I stopped posting was right around the time my husband, friend and partner of 13 years lost the fight with cancer. (Right about the time I blew the engine on my older and favorite XS---the '77"D".) She threw a rod...

    barn find BSA value questions.

Hi Guys, Hmm......Front fender, fork tubes, headlight mounts, handlebars, mufflers....other than that, it looks good. No way of knowing how that infamous timing-side plain bush is doing, but if it turns over, that's a good sign. I think $800.00 is more than fair. Basically I prefer BSA...

Help with the XS650B air boxes

Hi Guys, Well, Gordon, you've done a beautiful job so far, and you *totally* understated the amount of primer on the poor thing! Sorry---I should have remembered about the 180-out timing thing.... Guys, don't mention the SR500 around Gordon! He is World-Class crazy for Brit singles...
