    Just introducing myself.

This is where the Standard swingarm with the drop down bolt and receiving metal block are handy for removing the rear tire with the muffs in the way. Terminology escapes me ATM.

    Just saying hello

Post some pics, we love pics. Welcome aboard!

    Just introducing myself.

A Special chain guard along with the Specials rear brake stabilizer bar gives one the option of running a 16" rear tire too, if one so desired. That's a beaut @XSTime .

    Forum decline

"Civility is the lubricant of society." I'll add a couple of Dadism's handed down through the generations. "You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar" "If you can't say something nice, say nothing at all" "If you can't be a help don't be a hindrance" I'll part with - Ego is a...

Reinstalling the carbs on my 76 XS650.

To add to that, some years ago there was a post regarding fabbing a hanger of sorts coming off the backbone to support the carbs sans an airbox. Thinking about it, that would keep them in place vertically. Might not help on a nasty backfire........ I crank the dogshirt out of the clamps to where...

    Filter/intake flow testing (with results)

Ol' xsjohn (RIP) drilled the air box covers.....thinking a couple 3/4" holes in each. Wonder if that can be found somewheres. Nice write up!

    Just introducing myself.

Yes, very nice '78 Standard. Swap those slash cut muffs for a set of the long commando's and she'll be the Belle of the Ball at any bike night. Welcome aboard! I'll add that missing that old '67 Triumph 500 i had as a young'n is what got me back on two wheels, and the advice, given to me from an...

    New Machine unfamiliar with

Appears to be a 1983 Heritage Special sporting mags off an '81. Being as it's in the U.K. that may have been the way they were sold in that market. Headers have the Standard bends, might be aftermarket. IF the pipes are stock then they'll be double walled. Silencers would have to be mated to the...

Should we be afraid of Artificial Intelligence?

Especially when the people currently coding this software harbour leftist/Marxist ideologies. All paths seem to lead to destruction. Daniel. I don't play with it but some of the responses I have seen are nothing more than convoluted word salad. Garbage in, garbage out.

    Flasher Unit

In my experience..... A low battery will light the indicator up but won't have enough juice to flash. The turn signal wires in the headlight bucket being chocolate brown and dark green can easily be mistaken at a quick glance as being black ground wires, especially with years of dirt on them...

Wanted - Iso decent set of used carb boots for my 1980 g with bs38s

Post a pic of your carbs. '80 should have come stock with bs34's......unless they've been changed.

    Standard vs Special Headlight Brackets

You should be fine. The brackets start out from different places and angle but end up at the same mounting point for the headlight bucket. Gauges? I'm running a mix. Standard clocks but with the Special light tree showing turn signaling and the neutral light. However I've mounted a voltmeter at...

Special Seat Mod (Work in Progress)

Shelby, you might glean yourself a little side business hereabouts...... I'll add that I've always liked a stylish Kepi ever since I visited Gettysburg was a kid.

XS750 Triple Clamp in XS2 Steering Head?

The xs750 models had two styles of front triples and their corresponding forks. The Standard style which is like our xs650's and then the leading axle style found on their Specials. I ran a Standard '77 xs750 front end on my old '83 but it did involve swapping the neck of the 650 into the 750...

    Whats your weather right now?

32 years up on the ridge and have never had hail this big. "Tail end Charlie" is what they're calling the line that went through. Spawned a tornado in Madison, In./Milton, Ky.

What have you done to your XS today?

Power brake booster valves? Nice how they fit the stock air filter hose, like they were made for it.

    WIRING FOR DUMB DUMB 👈

Bs34 tin tops and a random yellow wire point to an '80's model where the headlamp comes on upon starting. Like stated above, more info needed.

Insurance - cost of use. 💸💸💸

For me personally, someone would have a better chance riding my wife than my bike, and both ain't happenin'. Other opinions may vary.
