    Calling all tuners/plug chop

What am I looking at here? On the rich side for sure This is after a 3/4 throttle run. I’ve got idle dialed perfect and it looks and feels great up to 3/4T , after that it seems to fall on its butt. Does the strap look like I need to add more timing? What are the flakes on the strap.

    Sometimes you just gotta ride.

A friend of mine bought a non runner with some performance parts. Don’t let convention, aesthetics or safety get in the way of a good time.

    Allen Head Tappets

Hey all! A couple years ago I saw a fella who had replaced his valve tappets with Allen heads which is an awesome idea. I can’t for the life of me find it or remember who it was. Does any one have an idea of where I can source some? Thanks

Fat on both ends, lean in the middle? Carb theories.

So I’m so far from stock and spec on this bike what with the two into one intake manifold, one carb, open/slightly baffled pipes, uni air pods, gonzo ignition, etc, I won’t even bother you with the exact settings, jet size and air/fuel mix.(unless you ask 😂) . My question is how these motors...

What do you do when your carbs don’t match?…Use one

I jumped off into the twighlight zone and welded up a two into one manifold tonight. I put the left side carb(bs38) on it and didn’t change any settings. Fired up first kick. Didn’t run great. Upped pilot one and lifted needle clip one. Calmed down to rideable. Took it about half mile...

The VI bobber now runs… but not well.

We’ll just about have this whip buttoned up. First Fire: Fired it up started second kick, single choke on. The motor seemed to want run off, and there was a fair amount of popping. This is leading me to believe it’s lean. Let it run 30 seconds. Shut down. Felt engine and headers for...

Headway on the VI 75 bobber

Engine in. Carbs rebuilt. Front brake caliper rebuilt and made a new line. Exhaust built, inserted three sheet metal “baffles” 3 inches apart, we’ll see how the carbs like it. Fender mounted .struts and back light mount built. New back brakes, Gerry rigged the brake switch and spring. In search...

Two cylinders, one heart… or carburetor

I’d like to change over to a single carb set up on my bobber. The intake isn’t an issue I’ve got that built for the most part. I was wondering what carb works well for the job and what jets to use. Set up is as follows: 2 1/2” intake pipe length . 3 1/4’ header pipes with light insert baffles...

Another VI brat build( but they’re cool)

Picked up a 75 from the rubbage heap, and decided I needed one more project. Got it home and put it on a weight loss program with the grinder.

Steering head bearing swap out question

I’m replacing the old ball bearing set up with a tapered roller bearing set up from all balls. I’ve installed the new races with no problem but my question is do I need to leave the old bottom part of what the ball rode in to take up some space or do I take everything off the steering shaft and...

    Gaskets/ seals

Rebuilding a 75, was wondering what you guys opinion on the most complete gasket and seals kit(s) for rebuilding block, top end and heads and transmission? Cylinders and pistons are within tolerance so just deglazing and honing cylinder walls. Is there a slightly bigger ring application? Thanks
