    Compression starter in a 447?

Hello. Just want to ask the gurus a question I have been pondering and possibly doing. Here goes, i have a '72 xs2 that is in need of a new motor. Is it possible to drop in a 447 motor from a later model and still use the compression start system that is on the original xs2? I know the square...

    Quick motor question

I have the upper and lower portions of a matching number case from a '77. But will the cylander head and all my innards from the '72 match up? I want to make sure the top half of my '72 and all it's inside parts (transmission, cam chain tensioner, etc.) will match up in the later model lower...

From the outside, the lower case looks to be the same. But you guys would know for sure. I just don't wAnt to be disappointed...

MikesXS Harness Question for 1972 XS2

Hello again everyone! I have a 1972 xs2 that has the stock wiring harness on it. I ordered a new one from mikesxs and while attempting to install it, I noticed that it doesn't have the brown wire from the safety relay at the coils. Just the red/white one. My old harness has the red/white and...

    A quick regulator/rectifier question.

Thank you for that find. I am in the middle of rewiring the whole bike. So I suppose I'll be getting the dual purpose reg/rec. Thanks guys!!! You all helped me out once again!

    A quick regulator/rectifier question.

Hello. I have a 72 xs2 that is pretty much stock. Mikesxs has two rectifier/regulators to chose from. One for $54 and the other for $109. They are part numbers 24-2089 and 24-2085 respectively. My question is, is there any difference between these two parts? Also wondering if they are...

    She left me stranded.

I could only find one fuse on the bike. The main coming out of the battery. That brings up a question I was wondering about. Is there any more fuses on the xs2? And if so, where are they located. Needless to say, I will be slowly changing out all the electrical parts over time to make the bike...

    She left me stranded.

As I weeded my way through the cobwebs inside the main switch, I was able to pull it apart. Then, HOLY CRAP!!! A wire was disconnected! Problem solved! Thank you ALL very much!!! You guys make owning a classic bike fun! Shawn

    She left me stranded.

Thank you Leo for that explaination. I was hitting on the same with the main switch because there was power through the red wire heading into it, but then nothing on the red/white coming out of it. So I am suspecting a main switch problem. After going extensively through the electrical system on...

    She left me stranded.

Okay, I just spent two and a half hours going through everything. Kill switch, stator, coils, etc. What it comes down to is there is no power to the red/white wire or the brown wire. The rest has power. Does the red/white wire make its start at the Main switch? If so, could it be a bad...

    She left me stranded.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like it could be a few different causes. One, the safety relay? Two, the kill switch, Three, the coil or ignition got fried using the wrong type of main fuse to get home. What do you guys think? The pamco ignition I put in like three days ago. The bike was...

    She left me stranded.

I could use some help from you guys that know electrical. Here's the story. I was riding home and the main fuse blew. I went to an auto shop and found the closest one I could find that would just get me home until I could get the right one. Well, as I was about a block away from the house...
