That gasket on the far left was the one that was unobtainium. Good to finally see a new one.

Correct gas cap gaskets needed for 1973 TX650

Please do. I got tired of trying to find or assemble the complete gasket set. Good to know there might be one that works for the 73 cap. I ended up using the one o-ring and it worked great. I've ordered stuff from hvc before. Great site.

I ordered the Viton orings. Going to give that a shot. I'm also going to try them as exhaust gaskets on another bike I have!! They are rated to 500 degrees.

Correct gas cap gaskets needed for 1973 TX650

Just want to at least have a basis on what I have vs what I'm supposed to have. Man, these one year only bikes can get the best of you. 3 hours of research so far just on the cap.

Correct gas cap gaskets needed for 1973 TX650

That existing gasket on my cap is hard as a brick. Gas stains on tank from previous owner. The cap does not seem to shut down very tight....I'm afraid it will leak, even with new gaskets. That "lip" you are talking about is for the 1974 versions. I believe there is a whole "nother" disc that...

I ordered the KDI Reproduction kit once I found the correct part numbers. I've done some CT3 and LT2 caps before....seems like I remember more parts to the cap and parts manual shows more as well.

Correct gas cap gaskets needed for 1973 TX650

I replied in a thread I started over the seat foam which is a one year only.....but figured I would start a new thread for the gas cap gaskets. My 1973 TX650 is in need of the gas cap gaskets, the one "long" o-ring type thing and the one that goes around the metal disc that touches the tank. I...
