277° rephase cost VS vibration reduction (2024)

Honestly it's been a minute. It was pretty easy except I made the mistake of using a wrench on mine and broke broke one the sensors when the compression pushed the crank around. Gary Hoos covered it for me tho. I remember I made a gauge out of a piece of zip tie to set the rotor in the right...

277° rephase cost VS vibration reduction (2024)

I'll weigh in... I admittedly have not ridden a lot of standard 360 crank XS's. I bought my bike for real cheap with a bad crank so was kind of in the same boat; it had to come apart either way. So after doing some reading here and other sources, I went for the 277* with a 750 kit as well. I...

    Switching front and rear sprocket.

So, if you over came the engineering issues and made suitable adapters and swapped the front and rear sprockets it would be surprising if the bike would even get rolling in 1st gear without stalling the engine as the gearing would be so high. One tooth up or down on the front sprocket and 3...

    Little end blues

woof. Gauling is pretty bad, caused but over RPMing?? Safe bet would be to rebuild the crank with new rods and big end bearings. Close look at mains...prolly ok but would think about a full refreshhhh.

    Valve clearance adjustment

https://www.motionpro.com/product/08-0734 Expensive? yes Single purpose? yes Will do a very specific job very well? yes I might get some tomatoes thrown at this post but you have to admit that Motion Pro makes some pretty cool motorcycle specific tooling.

    Vape (Powerdynamo Ignitions)

This is such a great product and well worth the sheckles. Ignition belongs on the crank, not the (hot as hell, driven by a slap happy chain) camshaft! I put one on my 277 and has worked flawless for 2 years now. Did a couple of heavy rain days last summer as well. Only thing that was tough was...

Installing a Vape all in one charging and ignition system.

Yep, that’s it, top or left pickup fires left cylinder Yep, that's how I did it, Left cylinder matched to Left (top) pick up. There is not a lot of adjustment beyond setting the gap between flag and sensor so I just trust that it horseshoe handgrenade close enough once you set the top one. I...

    Recommendations for ratchet straps.

Not ratchet straps, they are cam lock friction style....but these are seriously the best. Wide strap so they won't fold...

The Dark Side, Car tires on motorbikes!?

https://ridermagazine.com/2016/05/20/tales-from-the-dark-side-putting-car-tires-on-motorcycles/ This topic came up in my little circle of bike buddies. Would love to hear the opinions of the deep moto thinkers on my favorite forum... Would you ever? Do you know anyone who has? Seems like if...

    Torque?

In other words, for a given torque spec, for example 10 ft lbs, when you lubricate the threads they will be tighter (more force on the threads) than if they are left clean and dry. which (counterintuitively) means you run a greater risk of stripping out the threads or popping off the fastener...

    Broken bolt on rebuild asembly

My buddy managed to break off 2 6mm brake rotor screws on his 919 front wheel, then proceeded to drill and break off an extractor in each one. He brought it over for some help. So we decided to try welding on a nut to the broken remnant of the screw. We used 5/16 nuts and used them kinda like...

Installing a Vape all in one charging and ignition system.

Yes, my instructions said 41mm so I took a zip tie and cut it as close as I could to that measurement so it would be a bit stiffer than paper but still curve around the rotor. With 750 kit and flat slides with (what felt like) pretty spot on jetting, I got a slight ping at WFO. So I 'tarded the...

Strap it to the bike. Let the tool do the work. I usually use a waterproof messenger bag held down by a bungee net and straps to hold on a sleeping bag and bed roll. Magnetic talk bag is a must. Moto man purse! Saddle bags and luggage rack if you want to get fancy!
