    BMW’s stunning 1800cc concept bike

Looks like they raised the CoG about a foot. Probably handles like a pig. 2 thumbs down

    What has I gots here??

The tutorial on the tech called for modifying a 17mm socket. The earlier forks in that thread are different from what I have and what you show. That tool fit on flats on the outside diameter of the top. Still wondering what I have. But at least I know that this particular style takes a much...

    What has I gots here??

Down below somewhere is a thread I started on 75 vs 79 forks. Blah Blah Blah, Anyway I made the recommended tool '][/URL] Fiddled with it and fiddled with it but no joy getting the bottom screw out. Decided to try the other fork. Didn't work on that one either but wonder of wonders it came apart...

    Fork seals

Well boys you shamed me into it. I went to the local Ace Hardware to get a 17 mm bolt for the plugs. No joy They had 16s and 18s but no 17s .Anyway one step closer. Bearings changed, I had some leftover automotive black acrylic. I've found that if you load a small brush and spread the paint...

    Fork seals

Ohhhh! And I could change color from time to time and make a fashion statement.

    Fork seals

Just mostly a matter of having to make up a special tool to grab and hold the valve while removing bottom bolt. Not something that I have just laying around.

    Fork seals

If I am just changing fork seals is there really any reason to disassemble the forks? Neck bearings are done but wanted to change the seals as one seems to leak just a bit.

    Any musicians in the house?

Funny about the Spam. I too had been Spamless for many years. Then a couple years ago I found out my 2 neighbors (they are also brothers) had never had it. I invited them over when SWMBO was away and we had Spam and eggs.. They weren't impressed and I realized nostalgia is overrated at least...

Love the Spam pedal. Probably a better use than actually eating it. What does it do?

    Delagem's XS650 Build

Sweet machine. Love the blackout look with minimal maroon touches. I agree the turn signals should go. They really don't do a thing for the look. Do inspectors really know that 18" is the rule?

    75 vs 79

Leo I agree. The blue engine covers are now black and the fender strut is in the spare parts bin. Someone did a nice job with the tape stripes so as long as they don't start peeling they will stay. If I had buckets of cash I would search for a low mileage all stock early machine. I'm kind of...

    75 vs 79

I gotta say of all the brand specific sites I've seen this has got to be at or near the top. So many choices. I may end up just using the exhaust from the 79 as that's the main reason I bought it in the first place. I have all the parts to refurbish the 75 front end and as as 5 twins said I...

    75 vs 79

XSLeo I don't have any paper on the 79 and I have no idea how difficult it would be to get a new one in NYS. Pre 72 was only a registration and that's usually not much of an issue. I have a 2001 Kawasaki w650 on the road which I like a lot so the 75 will be an alternate when done. I'm probablty...

    75 vs 79

5twins Yes I see one on Epay but its over 200.00 without the guts. I only paid 250 for the complete parts bike I would like to have some beer money left when I'm done. I will keep my eyes open though.

    Any musicians in the house?

Been playing guitar off and on for years. Still in the amateur ranks. I do however have a large collection of Yamaha guitars dating back to the 60s. They had some cool designs.

    75 vs 79

Fredintoon Thanks for the input. Can't do the engine swap as there is no title for the 79. Just to be clear. Could I use the 79 forks with the 75 spoke wheel without mods? I did see somewhere on here that stem were different on different years. Is that an issue here? Sorry to be so dense but...
