    I NEED NITRIC ACID ?

If not too tight a 90 deg dental pick tool may work. If it is in really tight, drill a small hole on opposite side of carburetor and punch it straight out, then patch hole.

Sellers remorse (insert sad face here)

The thrill is gone for just riding around for the sake of riding. Now I need a destination or a reason. One of the reasons I like working on old bikes is going on the test rides. Alas, the 4 bikes in my garage are working well and need nothing.

    Helmets, I didn't know that!

I don't get the safety and ATGATT thing. Motorcycling is not safe. Instead of getting a better helmet, why not stop riding motorcycles and get a SUV. Its much safer.

    What's wrong with points.???

If points need to be serviced every 5,000 miles, and you only put 2,000 miles a year on the bike, keep the points. In the end, you will spend much less time servicing points than converting to electronic ignition.

    Gonzo gn250 boxes on a 85 VT500

The terminology is confusing. The sellers on E-bay and Amazon are listing gn250 boxes as CDI. Some call it ECU. Partzilla just calls it an igniter. I don't see any listed as TCI. Its all alphabet soup to me. So, XS650 and GN250 are TCI and VT500 is CDI (at least Partzilla says it is). The VT500...

Oil and smoke in right-side exhaust

Lets just say with more experience and less hammering to "seat" the seals, this would not of happened.

Oil and smoke in right-side exhaust

I had same problem with my KZ305 after a top end rebuild, smoking out of one pipe. It turned out I damaged 1 intake valve seal when reassembling. I was able to replace the damaged seal by stuffing the cylinder with nylon cord and not removing the head.

    Tank Prep and Sealer

The only tanks I have ever lined were those with pin hole leaks. If it is rusted but not leaking, I clean the rust out, once clean, fill with gas and I'm done. Also, consider resale. A lined tank is a big turn off to buyers. I would be much more likely to buy a bike with a little rust in the...

    Tires

I fell for this myself. Out of the bike the tube held air, but you can only put a few psi in the tube. Once mounted and aired up to 35 psi., it leaked around the base of the valve stem.

    Recommend me an upholstery tool

I recovered my boat seats with vinyl from a national chain fabric store. It was listed as marine grade vinyl, but it started peeling and flaking after only one year. Where do you get oem quality vinyl?

    Tires

Remove the tire with the weights on. Put the axle through the wheel supported by two jack stands. Give the wheel a slow spin and see if it always comes to rest weights down. If so start removing weights untill the wheel comes to a stop in random places. My guess is you will be removing all the...

    TCI Replacement 2020 It Works

That looks like a heat related failure waiting to happen. Put some heat sink compond under the transister and bolt it to the heat sink. I find alot of Chineze stuff is like that. The build quality is so bad, you need to rework it before use.

I just acted my age, and bought a sensible motorcycle...

But where's the engine, the gas tank, the seat, the frame. It's just one big blob of plastic. To my eye, a motorcycle should proudly show off each descrete component.

    Engine Oil

You can't go by what an owners manual from the 70's says. Back in the day, motor oil had lots of zinc. Not like the girly oils of today. Motorcycle specific oils were not needed. Today you need motorcycle specific oils.or diesel oil, or racing oil.

    Engine Oil

I have been riding and wrenching on motorcycles since the early 70's. I still don't know. But just to get my asshole in the conversation, use Mobil 1 15w50, V twin 20w50, T4 motorcycle 10w40, Rotella t4 or t6 diesel oil.
