The XS comes stock with points and a mechanical advance, which is entirely mechanical. When the littl cam inside the points housing comes around it litterally makes the points contact which in turn causes the ignition to fire. The advance is controlled by the centrafugical force of two weights...

ummm. ill put it this way. a 10,000uf 50v cap, fully charged, had enough juice to click on a relay for all of 3 seconds... it takes less than an amp to activate a relay. and this is going to turn over the electric starter? how?

im not positive as i dont have a stock rear caliper bracket to look at but it looks like you dont have the correct bracket... post a pic from the side of the bike so we can see the bracket better...

im not sure that any are actually made that way. just take any old 7" headlight. drill a hole, mount toggle. done. simple enouigh?

ive done inside cuts with a combination of drilled holes, jigsaws, dremels and hand files. it pretty much comes down to whatever you think works best for the particular piece your cutting...
