What have you done to your XS today?

Starts and runs fine. Have to take it on a test ride. Not tonight. I deserve the head ache. I broke the first rule of mechanics. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! If I don't get back up, ya'll have a happy holiday!

What have you done to your XS today?

Yep, new coil reading went to 4.4 ohms. ( I had it in auto range.) Meters right up there with a fluke. Thanks Jim. I'm gona stick it back together as is, Azzbackards and see what it does. I have a terminal tool and a lot of brass terminals but I hate to mess with it if I don't have to, and...

What have you done to your XS today?

Old Coil: Reading HT to rear terminal (#1) = 7.93 K ohms Reading HT to front terminal ( #2) = 7.93 K ohms Reading #1 to #2 = 4.1 ohm ( and the coils are 4 ohm coils) So no change in HT to #1 or #2. Hummmm. New coil: Reading HT to rear terminal (#1) = 8.17 K ohms Reading HT to front terminal (...

Good point JMM. The rear wires on my Yam coils are brown. That tells me power.

What have you done to your XS today?

I don't know why I still do business with Mike's XS. I decided to freshen up my coils. I'm running the original Yamaha coils that came on the bike, including the condensers. :) I ordered a couple of their 17-6805. States it works with a bunch of bikes including my 77. Coils come in today. They...

“Like a Hole in the Head”

Excellent idea Jan_P! I thought about two pins spaced right in a piece of stock and the outsides ground for clearance but too much trouble for a one-off.

“Like a Hole in the Head”

Lets hope it's loose. But with the chips out as much as possible, using Rustie's idea, you could also heat the area around the hole. The Al will expand more then the tap and might it turn easier?

“Like a Hole in the Head”

Oh man! JRay this kinda stuff has to happen to somebody! I'm starting to feel pretty safe with it all happening to you. This kind of stuff really sux! There is the new type of low melting point aluminum rod that would probably weld the hole up. It was a surprise to me to find the patched 2X2...

What have you done to your XS today?

Man! I got my carb holders in from Mikes today! But really? I don't care what you do to the pink pop corn packing, butter, salt, It still taste like crap! Haven't had a chance to install them yet. Too busy trying to convince the ponys, even though they were getting a good grade of grassohol they...

What have you done to your XS today?

Hey Thu! Bike looks pretty good. So how come it floods, is hard to start, idles fast then slow and won't idle. Runs good on throttle but spits, sputters, backfires and runs on one cylinder when you let off of it? Timing marks on both cylinders are dead on. Easy, right carb has pulled out of...

Calling 5 Twins, need jetting help

Yes, I was talking engine advance. I'm working on a Honda now that the advance was not going full and had a problem like yours. However as clean as yours is, It was a shot in the dark because it looks mastered. 5T is the man in this area!

Air in the lines. Pull the top off your MC and gently work the lever just a tad and see if you see bubbles. Otherwise if your system is air free and the pistons are frozen you won't be able to move the lever. Other option is MC cups.

I received the Tytronic for the XS and Dyna for the Honda. Just for giggles. Probably install the Dyna first.

    Most memorable bike you've owned

There was a one wire in the electric shop that had a 500 Kaw. Dunstall faring, roller bearing crank. He let me take a ride. I went down to the kaw shop and came out with a 1973 H2 in gold. It was QUICK! I didn't like the ring-a-ding-ding. One day the one wire said lets swap bikes for the week...

    This has me stumped.

If you had gotten some stump remover, Potassium nitrate, and poured in those holes and watered it in and let sit for a couple of days, then you hit it with the blower, hold me tight, you would have seen Satan himself appear!
