Aww man i have been looking at pics of that thing for the past month and am totally in love with it. Inspiration to go down and do some work in the garage!
Hello,
Im looking to purchase a set of cylinders for my 1980 XS. I'm going to have them bored up to the next size over and was trying to save some money instead of buying a new cylinder sleeve from mikes XS. since its going to be bored condition isn't too important although i would most prefer...
Good luck finding those locally. Looked at every hardware store in my town and couldn't find them ended up just ordering mine from Yamaha for4.50 a pop. I nearly died when the dealer told me the price. although they did have them for me the next day which was nice.
I believe the cylinder wash on that cylinder was caused from a leaky o ring on my float valve seat. there was gas coming out of the air jet before i replaced it which made me think that this was causing my carb bowl to fill more than it should.
BTW i switched from the brass floats to the...
Had to go back and look at my receipts again for that one. I ordered jet needle 5IX11 and Needle jet 336 YO i'm going to double check and count the number of holes just to make sure the number of holes on the sides of it just to make sure they are the ones in the carbs.
Idk I'm borrowing...
So ive been getting like 33 miles to the gallon. 1980 xs650g bs34s K&N pods stock exhaust was running:
canadian needles 2nd notch from the top
135 mains
stock air jet
45 pilot
now running
135 main
42.5 pilot
canadian needles 3rd notch (middle)
stock air jet
Left the bike...
its ok. Turns out right cylinder wasnt firing like at all. Experiencing mad cylinder wash like compression test showed 65 psi added a touch of oil to the cylinder and the compression came back to 150.
I was turning the screw and getting absolutely nowhere.
btw its like 60 degrees here in CA
Ok So just cleaned out my BS 34s and got them back together hooked up the homemade manometer. I know that the sync screw changes the position on the right cylinder; now onto my real question. if the right cylinder pulls more vacuum than the left cylinder, I dont want to suck up anymore 2 stroke...
I would love to win these pipes. Earlier this year the 650 dropped a valve so I rebuilt the head. been riding it around all winter, only form of transportation other than the bicycle. Shortly after rebuilding the head on the 650, unknowingly the thermostat slowly froze on my truck while it sat...
Some person on here posted some pictures of how they did it. I think it was retiredgentleman.
Remove the wrist pins It makes things a whole lot easier.
carefully insert piston, being mindful of the rings, into the bottom of the cylinder.
I used tiny hose clamps to support the jugs over the...
I needed standoffs for the coil #17-6810. I picked them up at ACE Hardware though. without them my coil wires rub at a awkward angle with the tank. This caused some grounding issues whenever the tank was on the bike.
I dropped back down to the 135 yesterday and am almost done fine tuning the mixture 3 turns out was a pretty good starting point. thank you xsleo. going to toy around with it for a little longer today and take it out for a ride and see how she does. The Trick R Treaters started coming around...
I found my throttle shaft seals were leaking with a propane torch with a pen flame off. worked fantastic to find vacuum and air leaks. Carb cleaner isn't so friendly to rubber.
Did you just tune it and it started to do this; or was it running fine and then all of a sudden this started?
Im...
137.5 main
45 pilot
second clip position from the top
2.25 turns out
switched from Autolite 63 to NGK BPR7EIX
Notes: Runs well has slight over rich stumble at higher RPMS at WOT. MPG 35-38.
This is turning into the quest the highest fuel economy possible. I would like to get at least into the...
