OK just worked it out. the shaft stays in place, the chrome cover comes off over the front of the speedo not to the back as you would think.

Dismantling my speedo, already done the Tacho. has anyone actually got a photo of the trip meter shaft undone? I'm told it is a lefthand thread?? need to remove this in order to get the chrome surround off for rechroming. Cheers

Does the shaft unscrew (left or righthand threads) to enable removing the chrome outer cover?

Hi folks Just cleaning up my TX650 1973 instruments(Gauges). I ha ve done the pull down on the Tacho- all good. My question is, how does the chrome band around the speedo come off? i have removed the trip meter knob but still can't get the chrome rim off!! any ideas? Cheers Kentg

I believe these are hard to come by? Mine has a large crack in it. Any leads on finding one would be appreciated. cheers
