Doyou or anybody else know the proper way of taking the gasket off and the spring pressured apart??

1976 yahama.. couldn’t figure how to remove the gasket..

I am new to the xx 650 and have some questions about the gas cap. The gasket is severely dry rotted and I am curious if you can just replace the gasket or if I just need to replace the whole cap. I see Mike XS sells a new one pretty cheap. If you can remove the gasket does anybody know how?

well did a lot of search and was able to find a kit on eBay for $20. So we shall see LOL

Yep I took it apart it was completely rusted I’m really not sure at this point if I’ll be able to clean it up and reuse it. Gonna have to check it out again when I get back home. Also I live at the lake of the Ozarks.

I have a 1976 Yamaha XS 650. The master cylinder Rebuild kit get that I purchased from Mike’s XS is a rebuild kit for their aftermarket unit. I’m trying to find a rebuild kit for a stock master cylinder
