Say it did stay engaged while running(as my bike is now doing) would that just be a bad return spring or would it be the gear being stuck on the shaft in some way?

In need of carbs. The bike I bought came with two independent carbs. They are mikuni, cleaned up and running the bike but not sure how to tune them in and Id rather deal with original parts. Also I'd gladly trade the ones I have for the set of bs34's.

So I just got a 650 from a friend. The vin is 2f0-204183. It was manufactured(according to the placard) 7/79. Would it be a 79 year model or a 80 year model?

Okay, I realize that this thread is about 8 years old. But I was given a Yamaha today that has the vin 2F0-204183. I was hoping to find the model and any other info I can off that. Or be guided to where to find that information myself. Google search reaps nothing
