    Wiring Harness

Ok, So I posted this picture (crank shaft left side) ... and now my question: Is this particular part a charging system? Or simply part of the ignition system? Other threads have led me to believe I need to connect a jumper to the lighting side of the electrical, due to lights not coming on...

    Wiring Harness

Thanks for the reply Dog, This is the one I have... timing is in the cam. And doesn't use the TCI any longer. https://www.mikesxs.net/yamaha-xs650-complete-high-output-standard-ignition-xscharge-pma-package.html Wiring looks like a nightmare job but I best get to it.

    Wiring Harness

I own a 1983 Heritage Special. Runs better than good... My 2nd 650. (I owned a 1978 brand new) The Heritage has 2 owners prior to me. It has newer a charging system. Since I want to "clean it up" by removing ALL unnecessary wiring/parts etc... My questions would be: Is there a diagram...

Bought bike, rode home, now no spark

OK, Today I got more into the bike and found the connection from the stator to the regulator was fried so bad, the connector plugs are stuck together and plenty of evidence of burning, mostly from the one wire coming FROM the stator. I'm going to mark these wires and probably end up cutting them...

OK got it. In looking at the photos I posted, the diagram posted above is the "go to" method?

I ordered the trytonic part, and as I look at this diagram, I don't believe I have the "PAMCO" part on the bike. What is the purpose of this part?

White, and looks like it shouldn't be there. There is a fuse on it. But HOT as hell.

OK, so yes, the TCI box in not in use. ALSO, Just tested the battery voltage and while not running 12.3 ... while running 12.3 (seems wrong). I also noticed one of the wires near the battery was getting very hot. Not sure where it goes to yet, but I will trace to find it's purpose.

Yes, this is the part. Disconnected.

OK, thank you! I'm going to assume there are other wiring issues involved if all these parts seem to be the after market "change over" ignition parts. I'll try to get voltage readings later on today. I really appreciate everyone's help. so ummmm . . . .keep it coming!

And yes, the plug is an 8 pin plug.

No it does NOT have fins. It is a flat box (about 6" long, 3" wide by 1" in height) mounted under the battery box and the plug just dangles. It is an older looking part. Behind the motor is the newer "regulator" as seen in pictures of the newer kits. And it is plugged in. I'll have to run...

This tyronic part is mounted onto the upper left cam?

I also own volt meters. I'm a construction guy so I have tools out the wazoo.

So this set up as you see it, is correct? Except for possibly the regulator? I was under the impression, that there are some wires that are supposed to come out of one side of the cam which I do NOT see... Am I correct in my assumption? Gong to check the tytronic link now.

I also noticed, the part directly UNDER the battery cover (maybe an old regulator?) is not connected to anything.

Yes, A few weeks ago, one of my sons bought me a brand NEW battery, filled it, charged it over night, and it cranked (kick started) right over on the first kick.

OK, so there you have it - Left side cam, right side cam, and rotor/stator left crank.
