I charged it yesterday and tried it again with a charged battery but it was the same result. No misfiring when starting or running with choke on. Ill check the ground...

    76 XS650 Wont stay on

Carbs were cleaned a few years ago. I will take them apart this winter and clean them. Hopefully thats all that is. Ill take a look at the gas tank to see if there is any debris/rust in it.

    76 XS650 Wont stay on

So after installing the Boyer electronic ignition, replacing spark plugs, the motorcycle ran amazing, better than it probably ever has. Last week it was about 38 degrees and i tried to ride it, it started with the choke on, i left the choke on a few minutes so it can warm up otherwise it kept...

'76 XS Boyer Ignition Install Wiring

Follow up Question: I installed the whole Boyer system, motorcycle started up but does not sound good. Boyer Instructions indicate to warm up the bike and time the indicator at Full Advance by revving up the engine. This should be at setting 'C' in the image. The lines should line up correct...

73 TX650 Boyer Bransden Kit 00303 fitting: extra wires!

Mine is a Red wire with white line/stripe (seems like same wire as yours). Per Wiring diagrams for TX650 and for my 76' 650D this wire goes directly to the Engine Stop Switch/Kill switch. The kill switch looks to be wired to the ignition switch. So to my understanding we are connecting to the...

73 TX650 Boyer Bransden Kit 00303 fitting: extra wires!

See my thread, I asked the same question and was told they are no longer needed and can be left alone so i decided to just 'cap' the wires so they arent touching any other wires when bare in case they are live. Hopefully this is the proper way to do it...

73 TX650 Boyer Bransden Kit 00303 fitting: extra wires!

Yeah were in the same boat, we were left with wires and not knowing what to do with them. Turns out we dont need the orange and gray wire so i ended up covering the wires up with heat shrink tubing. I put 1 on first to cover the entire end of the wire with about 1/2" left over, i bent the left...

'76 XS Boyer Ignition Install Wiring

Do you think this triple Connector would work to connect the main power wire, and then the wire from coil and wire from blue box? Or should i solder both wires to a female connector that the power wire goes to? Having a hard time finding a double wire terminal connector.

'76 XS Boyer Ignition Install Wiring

Hello, Im installing the Boyer ignition KIT 00303 and have a few questions Based on serial number it appears my exact model is XS650D. After removing the points, it had 2 wires running from them, an orange, and a gray which also had a black wire running into it. From those two wires come out a...

    77 XS650 Ignition System Reccomendations

Did you ground the coil at all to the frame or anything? or is it enough that the unit itself is already attached to the metal components of the mount?

    77 XS650 Ignition System Reccomendations

Is there anything you recommend for the coil mount? im seeing people use aluminum plates with threaded screws and nuts holding the Coils under the tank. Also: does the coil need to somehow be grounded? im reading in some of the posts that yes it does but in others it does not. Thoughts? if so...

    77 XS650 Ignition System Reccomendations

With the Boyer Kits: what is the difference between the Red and Blue box or model versions? how do I know which one i need. If i buy the Boyer Micro Power Ignition, this replaces the points and advance springs correct? do i need to swap out any other parts aside the ones included with the kit...

    77 XS650 Ignition System Reccomendations

So since it appears that getting a good set of Advance springs is a issue now, does everyone recommend changing to an electronic system? from my understanding this replaces the Points and removes the springs? Just had my springs break and i bought new ones but the bike is not running correctly...
