    Sold / Found / Inactive - Stock Mikuni’s off an 83’

they came off of my 83 that had about 13k miles on it. The bike was in great shape before I tore it down but to be honest I don’t know the exact conditions. I can take more pictures and take some stuff apart to verify anything for you though

    Continue with top-end tear down?

You guys are right. Thinking about it, that’s a wild waste of money just because of a little fin. I could probably easily get someone to repair this.

    Continue with top-end tear down?

Got it. That’s actually a little annoying considering my cylinder was just fine before I started messing with it and breaking a fin. MikesXS sells a complete kit but it’s not an OEM cylinder and I’m trying to stay away from Mikes as much as possible

    Continue with top-end tear down?

Reason for tear down was because I initially thought the chain guide was chewed up and I wanted to see if there was some noticeable reason as to why there was so much gasoline in the oil. I’ve had the carbs off the motor since I stripped the bike down years ago. The PO could have had the bike on...

    Continue with top-end tear down?

There does seem to be marring and some marks on the outside of the cage with a little bit of surface rust on the inside. I was wrong, it’s actually the outer bearing and not the one closest to the cam. Probably a good idea to replace it. As far as the chain guide from Hoos, can you confirm...

    Continue with top-end tear down?

I’m also wondering if that little bit of grit that was in the oil could have been shavings from the cam/bearing. I just don’t see it getting turned into fine grit like how it was

    Continue with top-end tear down?

Found lots of fuel and a little bit of grit in the oil as well as globs of what looked like melted plastic. Turns out it was pieces of the rubber bushings that are on the head studs. Figured I would replace the chain guide..yada yada. When I got the guide out, I noticed that it was perfectly...

    Let's See The XS's

Lol yeah it will be interesting. Technically it’s still stock dimensions (0 stretch) other than the lowered forks. May also change out to a skinnier front tire

    Let's See The XS's

I’ve made a little progress on mine. So far: Shaved the fork lowers, lowered them 3”, shaved the top triple and added HHB light bracket. Polished the whole front end. Added some 1” Riserless bars, new spokes, tires, and tubes front and rear. Polished the hubs and replaced the brake shoes. Got a...

    Wanted - Harley neck kit

Great info. Thanks! Luckily I still have all my races. I ended up cleaning up and shaving my stock triples and got them polished. I do plan on switching it up to accept a Mullins ultra skinny tree at some point so I’ll be bookmarking this

    Triple Tree Bolts

The bolts I sourced came in either 18-8 (A2) or 316 (A4) and then zinc plated and black oxide after that

    Triple Tree Bolts

Not sure honestly. That is a good point. I didn’t purchase them considering they had nothing that I needed, I just used their gauges with my stock hardware lol. I know HHB offered a bolt kit but I don’t know where he sourced them from. I would imagine they were common SS socket cap bolts.

    Triple Tree Bolts

Hi guys, I know I’m reviving a thread that’s over a decade old. However, I’ve been searching for this info lately and this thread keeps popping up. Went to the hardware store and did some measuring with my factory triple tree hardware from a 1981 Special II. These are for stainless socket cap...
