Wanted - LEFT Crankcase cover (to fit a 1979 XS650)

I dropped a chain and cracked the cover from the clutch threads to the back of the case... so I need a new-to-me one. I'm in Fairfield, CT and would love to pick one up from you as soon as I could. Thanks.

Advance Pin: Keeps f*&^ing falling out!

Yup. Pin on the right. Pic wouldn't do anything, as it looks fine when it goes in. It just doesn't stay in place. It spins itself out!

Advance Pin: Keeps f*&^ing falling out!

Pamco Ignition. Pamco Advance.... Not the fault of either of these, but I can't keep the advance pin in place. It keeps popping out. I put it back in, it runs like a dream on the first kick. Glue? nail? What to do!? I want to ride this thing!:wtf::shrug::confused::banghead:

Got it running! Went for a ride! Then walked home...

Pete, you are a funny man. Mvonwahlde is my name. Mike von Wahlde. I have no vanity plates. I hate them. So anyhow, I had it all hooked up and test run for charging back during the whole "first" go, before the top end started leaking oil like a sieve and it was fine. I didn't think it would be...

Got it running! Went for a ride! Then walked home...

So I thought I had the triumphant second beginning to the riding part of this project--rebuilt top end, fixed clutch pushrod issues... got the engine back in and got the wires all back where they were... And I ran it around the neighborhood and while I know there are some jetting issues to...

Stuck in neutral: No gears after first few rides after top end rebuild

Thanks. I do have a manual, a clymers, a Haynes and the factory one. I am trying to get this last part done quickly and wAs looking for triage help-- an order of things to check through in order of invasiveness. These manuals don't compare to a place like this for that kind of help. And that e...

Stuck in neutral: No gears after first few rides after top end rebuild

Is that E-clip on the outside of the body of the engine, near the seal? Will it be visible? There does seem to be some play in the gear selector, but not at the spines (ie, not the lever on the spines). If I am playing then with the gear selector claw, is the adjustment essentially the same as...

Stuck in neutral: No gears after first few rides after top end rebuild

I bet that is it. I'm a dolt. I don't remember putting a c-clip on it or it having a place for one. I'll look for an explosion and hopefully figure it out. Thanks. MVW

Stuck in neutral: No gears after first few rides after top end rebuild

Hi all, I am at a last roadblock to riding this build, having tidied up all the other problems, at least I think... But now, after a top-end rebuild and a few miles of riding, I am stuck in neutral and cannot get up or get down. The engine kicks over in one or two kicks, and although it is...

Voodoo Vintage: SUICIDE frame for Mr. David Roberts!!!

Looks great. Great welds, but the name is cliche, no? Give a thing of beauty a proper name... Reminds me of old layback seatposts on the old GTs and Hutches. A year ago I ordered a David Bird hardtail since it reminded me of the trickstars and SE racing bikes... you are on to something sick.

I have a six inch stretch 2" drop, but that's because I'm 6'4" and it actually fits me with the seat well back...

Timing W/ Pamco, PMA... white smoke left cylinder

Yeah, just the left cylinder though. Seems through searches that some people have been able to swap these out without tearing out the entire engine... any tips? I'll probably return that timing light and pop for a better one. I have some valve stem seals around (the basket case I bought had...

Timing W/ Pamco, PMA... white smoke left cylinder

After the "rebuild", about 10. Until yesterday it wasn't registered and plated, but it's only the left cylinder and I'm not sure exactly what has been replaced. I know that sometimes it all takes some settling in, but the first rides weren't smokey and now it smokes the more the engine gets hot...

Timing W/ Pamco, PMA... white smoke left cylinder

I will commence with the searching about how to replace those... preferably without tearing the whole top end off... Thanks!

Timing W/ Pamco, PMA... white smoke left cylinder

Woodruff is there. Flywheel hasn't been off since install. TDC is still correct. Thanks though! I checked the valves on that side of the engine and they are in spec and still s m o k i n. Where is the oil control ring (feeling stupid here).
