A little Keihin carb help anyone?

I've got a 73 xl125 Honda I'm trying to get running and the carb is giving me a little trouble. The carb is a 24 mm bore Keihin. I couldn't ID it as to what model exactly, but the slide is actuated by the throttle cable, and it has a clip to hold the bowl on. First, I'm not sure if the air...

    broken part in oil

Just to recap, I didn't do anything to my bike until this year. Tore the engine down, split the cases, and found it was a bad rod bearing. So, I found a good used crank and now have it all back together. Only waiting on new filters and a rotor puller and it will be back on the road.

    quick question regarding Valve Adjustment

Yes. You'll want to use a wrench or socket with a breaker bar to turn the rotor. I've never seen a chip in a rotor like that personally, but you check to see if it's good with a meter. There are threads explaining how. Posted via Mobile

    Too close, way too close

That kind of stuff pissed me off. Whoever put that there should be scorned at the least. Nothing should be protruding from anything at head level. Posted via Mobile

    broken part in oil

Thanks for posting that pic for me. It was becoming quite a source of frustration for me. One of these days i'll figure it out. I found several of these pieces in my oil. I don't have any idea what they are. I've investigated as much as much as possible without taking the whole thing apart. I...

    Broken shift mechanism!

That's where it came from and the washer rides between it and the shift fork. As far as why or how it came out, I can't help you. The missing peg on the wheel is normal.

    broken part in oil

Whoohoo! I finally got it. Thanks for the help brian. It was on the rear plug. I know my first gear is bad and I suspected that one of the dogs broke off. But. I'm not sure what this piece is. All of the magnets were full of shavings.
