    where to buy colored wire?

My wife works at NAPA so I get the bulk of any wiring I need from them. They usually have black, pink, purple, blue, red, yellow, green, orange, brown etc. on hand in spools of 100 foot to 1000 foot I believe. Generally like .20 -.79 cents a foot, no minimum that I am aware of.

    Shops and Garages

Here's some pictures of my shop and the parts I've been cleaning in the front room of my trailer, it's about 14 X 10 with a bathroom. Beats working out in the snow or the driveway where parts would certainly come up missing. Plus with a 550 watt sound system hooked up to the laptop providing...

Trying to figure out what this is

Thanks BigJimmy! This isn't supposed to be loose and floating in the wind is it? When I pulled it out, I could see oil seeping out of the hole.

Trying to figure out what this is

Hello everyone! Due to bad weather (yeah, snow once again and it's darn near April, gotta love South Dakota!) we aren't roofing anytime soon so back to work on the motor I go. As I was cleaning all the crud from the left side by the drive chain, I noticed this metal dowel looking thing that...

    Anyone recognize this scoot???

Hey MN_Bobber, this is all I could find on that bike for you for now. Seems to be made by manachikaboo, here's a link to him riding the bike on youtube: There's another video of him out there riding next to a vw bug hotrod as well. I'll keep searching the brat/Japanese sites for ya to see if...

    BratStyle or HardTail

Good info from both of you! From the sounds of it so far, I'm leaning heavily toward bratting the bike unless someone tall says there is no way I'm going to be comfortable for any length of time on this bike. Beau, Excellent suggestion, but I really don't want to lengthen the swing arm...

    BratStyle or HardTail

Thanks burgs, this is excellent info for me so far and I can't wait to check out those pics! I've attached a few pics of exactly what I am going for. As I've only one 650 so far (I can only fit one in the front room!) I too have been wracking my brain on what to do with it and would probably...

    BratStyle or HardTail

Hello all, I have searched the forum for the answer to my question I have but couldn't find one. Sorry if I'm asking the same question that has been asked before. Ok, on to the question: I have been debating on what to do with my frame, should I go bratstyle or hardtail. I am 6'-1" tall and...

    Head issue?

xscessivecompulsive: I live in Aberdeen, not originally from here though (New Jersey) but it's alright with Sturgis a few hours away. I made a spring compressor from an 8" deep throat clamp and a piece of pvc that I notched out and am in the process of cleaning the valves. I totally agree with...

    Head issue?

TwoJugs: I'm going to make a valve spring compressor from a 6" deep throat C clamp I have. The cylinders fins are all there but there are two small chunks taken out of the 6th fin down, nothing major I believe. Ok I have broke out the micrometer and the haynes manual says the cylinder barrel...

    Head issue?

CDNTX650: It will hold gas in there for days on end, I did that first because I didn't want to mess with removing valves, springs, etc. (I'm new to this motor and nervous to make an extremely expensive mistake) but looking on this forum I think maybe it best if I just pull it all apart and...

    Head issue?

Thanks retiredgentleman!! I've got a Haynes and a Clymers and the service manual from biker.net. I'm glad that missing metal shouldn't cause a problem. Time to move forward and break out the micrometer, hopefully I don't encounter any more problems.

    Head issue?

Ok, new to the forum but have gleaned tons of excellent info so far. I recently picked up a 78 XS650 SE for $100, mostly complete and supposedly running (never fired it up due to winter setting in) and decided to rebuild the top half of the motor while waiting for my hardtail to arrive and it's...
