Hi guys, I'd like to pick your brains in regards to using Mobil 1 20/50 fully synthetic - have any of you used this on your bikes, ie oil consumption? I want to use the best possible oil and would appreciate any feedback. Thanks. Pat
Thanks for your replies but I don't know what you mean by saying use a compressor fitting - is it a special tool?
My fabricated valve compressor tool would bolt to the protruding rocker cover bolts pressing the valve spring down with a long tyre lever of sorts with a fork fixed on the end...
Before you say "just strip the head off and do the job properly" I believe the motor has only done 8k from new (1975) and I don't want to split the cam chain and disturb the head.
My question to you guys is can I use the motor at TDC to support the valves whilst fabricating a valve spring...
It may sound like a trivial question but I'm doing a nut and bolt restoration of my 1975 XS650B which is nearly back on the road. Went to the motorfactors today to buy 10/30 fork oil but was told it was unavailable. Can anybody recommend what weight fork oil I should use. The Haynes manual says...
