    WTF pictures

I hear you. Down here in Texas, we have a lot of dumb city folks (from the communist cities around) who drive through the rural areas, see farm animals and stop to pet them. "Aww, look at that cute little giant bull". Well, these people climb over the fence, trespass on private property...

Canada, maybe? "Are you feeling sick? Have you considered suicide? We have some cheap rope!" :D

    Broken site ??

I did notice slow-downs or simple inaccessibility a few weeks ago but come to think of it, not lately. So the problem I was seeing might be resolved now.

What have you done to your XS today?

About 20 years ago, I bought a 25-pack of Bosch relays. It was some kind of an auction and I think I paid $25 (USD) for it. At a dollar per relay, I did not argue! I still have a few left in the box and not surprisingly, used one on the XS for the ignition RFID system. :)

    It really is a sickness…

Just a few days ago (right after I posted my previous reply here), I saw another poor soul ready to be rescued (on CraigsList). One of those projects that's been "fixed" so many times, it won't run anymore cuz even 10 mediocre fixes do not make up for 1 correct one. I was really trying hard not...

What is the Value of the resistor in the lighting circuit of an XS650D

Not sure if I'm gonna survive the night. There's gonna be some nail biting for sure! :D Some good DMMs have a zero feature for resistance measurements to take the leads out of the equation. Remember the "old" analog multi-meters with adjustable zero? :)

    Smoking exhaust

Howdy from Texas and welcome to the club! Yooze fom Joizy? Which eeexit? :) You said you added fresh fuel. But did you drain the old one? If not, it's not a bad idea. And it's easy to do with petcocks and fuel lines etc. That way you can easily eliminate bad/contaminated fuel. When she runs...

Scenario: clutch breaks. What's your contingency?

Well, speaking of the devil ... and he came by for a visit yesterday. Broken clutch left me stranded a few miles from home in the heat. (only 90F fortunately) So just like y'all mentioned, I put it in 1st gear, pushed the starter button and got her going at green lights. A lot of lights, though...

What is the Value of the resistor in the lighting circuit of an XS650D

Cool, thanks. Now my CDO wants to know: what resistance reading do you get when you put the test leads together?

How long is the kick-stand, please? Any chance you could PM me different angles? Or an angle with tape measure? I suspect my kickstand is some strange shortened version.

    Tracker Extraordinaire rescue

That is one gorgeous engine. That's exactly what I have been planning to do to mine for a while. Now I see pictures of your results and they look fantastic.

Replacing Rotors with XS1100 sloted rotors

I learned a long time ago to not stay in one place after hard braking. Moving the vehicle slowly and spreading the brake pad heat onto the rotor(s) evenly helps prevent warping.

    Any Harley guys here?

We are all riders here, I don't see a problem with posting pictures of a cool motorcycle. Those who cannot deal have a problem but it's theirs, not mine. <shrug/>

    Any Harley guys here?

The TC engine fits those low bobbers pretty well, especially if you paint it black (I did when I had to replace the crank). The matte black-out look is pretty nicely aggressive without being aggressive. It "looks" fast. :) That's close to what I did with my TC. It's a nice show-style bobber...

Replacing Rotors with XS1100 sloted rotors

Seeing this 10-y/o thread being resurrected gave me hope. Been thinking about putting cross-drilled rotors on the front. And this thread came just in time. Dang, just my luck. But all hope isn't lost. I have a program (that I made) to design fanning drill patterns so I can plug in some numbers...

    Bleeding the Brakes

Thank you for the follow-up. It is good to have a conclusion to a thread. It hopefully helps those who come after us and search for a similar problem. One would not necessarily suspect a brand new part to be faulty but sometimes, things are just built on Friday afternoon.

Any update on the master cylinder? Did you test it out with a blind bolt?

    It really is a sickness…

Same here, I think I am inflicted with the same incurable rare disease. I cannot help myself when I see a neglected bike for a great price and I try to give it a good home and a good life again. (which is why I ended up with my XS anyway) We are a rare breed.
