Getting the last drop out of brushes

Made me laugh.....Then I had to look up Shoo Goo. Product history Origins Shoe Goo was created in 1972 by Lyman Van Vliet, a 45-year-old senior executive at Hughes Aircraft Co. with a degree in physics from Wayne State University. A frequent player of tennis, Van Vliet was dissatisfied with the...

Has ANYONE put and AFTERMARKET TAIL LAMP on their XS?

Paul Sutton, Interesting...... Count the rays, 16 makes it a match for the Japanese Naval Ensign (flag) in your picture. Sneaky bastards, ..... but I would then think it to be pretty cool because everybody is a patriot of somewhere. XStretchified

Has ANYONE put and AFTERMARKET TAIL LAMP on their XS?

Personally I don't think that the stock round taillight of your 77 is funny looking. I kept mine and think of it as the designers tribute to the Japanese flag! The designers carried that round shape through many other parts of the bike.... including the turn signals, rotor cover, clutch...

    Swingarm Brace vs Crossover tube?

I agree with jetmechmarty and retiredgentleman and XStretchified(1st post). ....... XStretchified

    Swingarm Brace vs Crossover tube?

Interesting idea. You'll have the most flex using a heat tolerant hose that matches the diameter of the inner crossover stub and welding a threaded bushing into the outer crossover stub. You could also use rigid tube if you bend down from the stubs and across. How much deflection do you need...

    Swingarm Brace vs Crossover tube?

Roco22, I wouldn't remove the braced swing arm.... its a good upgrade. There are thousands of 650's using a two into two exhaust without a crossover tube. I would put that stock exhaust system aside and put on an aftermarket system. If you do remove the crossover tube I agree with 650Skull to...

Geeeeeezes... Personally..... I do not think he was talking about your taillight. Agreed...Agreed...Agreed. Yamaha77 you are a narcissistic poser. It is my opinion that you think that the motorcycle world and this forum lives on 'the look' and that we envy your incredible style. WTF! Your...

My winter 650 tweak list...What's on yours?

Nice tidy list....I'm guessing that the china seat is gonna require some fab time. I was reading these threads as they developed. Some seriously intellectual stuff there.......just how many pocket protectors do you own? (said purely in jest). I found one on EBAY searching by part number and...

My winter 650 tweak list...What's on yours?

After having the 650 back on the road for a couple of seasons I've got a few things on my 'to do' list to get done this winter. Put a little style in my muffler supports. Repair a stripped valve cover stud. Resto-modify my old sport fairing and mounts. Repaint. Rework the extra prong to keep...

    Lean Angle Anyone?

I am not a young rider........and I guess my ego is pretty normal. ............But that having thing would probably cause me to mess with my comfort zone. XStretchified

Woodruff Keys, PMA and my Rockerbox Fail

Well.....I made the woodruff key and installed it today. I saw the thread about making it T-shaped from 3/16 stock and that worked fine. It was a good thing that I had saved the old one. Just have to mark TDC then re-adjust the valves and carburetor. XStretchified

Woodruff Keys, PMA and my Rockerbox Fail

It has been running great. Planned to ride north to camp at the AHRMA races and Rockerbox last weekend. I was due for an oil change so I took care of that the night before. Got up early to adjust the cam chain, set the valve clearances and check the carb tuning before leaving. After setting...

Rockerbox Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI June 10 - 12

You say....a 77 restomod! I'll also be riding a 77 restomod! Whodafiggered. Camp will be anchored by a really white Silverado and an aluminum flatbed that will carry a Honda Shadow or a really ugly KDX 175. If he brings the KDX you can find our campsite by following the blue smoke trail...

Rockerbox Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI June 10 - 12

I'll be making the annual pilgrimage and camping in the carrousel. My son is setting up camp on Friday but I'll be riding the 650 up there on Saturday morning. No problem if you want a place to stay........AT LEAST STOP BY FOR A BEER. Road America didn't issue campsite numbers for the...

72 rest in peace officially junked it

Sad story...glad to hear you survived the episode. My first thought was 'that was a pretty sucky bike blessing'. Thinking further though, you did survive it albeit without the XS.... so the bike blessing was pretty much a spot on success. Sidebar.....I did a bike blessing ride from...
